Parasites? Please discuss...

Well, first i saw them in the toilet after i went to have a shit. A friend of mine suggested the spanish folk remedy of eating lots of garlic, and i tried that. And, like i said, the results were... gross. But i doubt that you finish them off that way. Probably best to get medication, thats what i did.
Dont know about other types of parasites though.

All humans carry parasites. A healthy immune system keeps them in balance so you can live in harmony with them.

Most of this parasite stuff is fear propoganda. Eat raw garlic if you're worried. Work on your immune system with a healthy diet and a low stress life. Learn the art of Joy and Love.

These antiparasite herbs are toxic. Hard on the ol bod. Only use them if you have proof positive that your have an overgrowth of parasites. Very few adults do.

=D

There are real benifits to intestinal cleansing IMO. One of the best parts is that most folks when they cleanse, either eat a modified diet or fast as part of the cleanse. I think fasting (done correctly) is one of the most amazing ways I have found to keep yourself healthy. Once the fasting or greenfood/fruit diet is done. Healthy eating habits will strengthen the immune system. A strong immune system will bring parasite levels back into a healthy balance. This is true for you dogs and cats too. What I just said here is a little simplistic but basically true. No need to poison out the parasites. Let your healthy immune system do it. :)

Oh I wanted to add...all humans carry organisms inside them that are benefitial. I dont consider these parasites. A parasite is something that takes from you without giving something back. These are the types of organisms Im referring to. Roundworks, tapeworms, etc. There would be no benefit to having them.

They rob you of nutrients, and can make their way outside your intestines into other organs, among other things.

Hmmm.. Why do you suppose they encourage fruits and veggies.. perhaps because meat and dairy cause and help parasites? Remember, meat, it's what's rotting in your intestines!

I wouldn't be surprised that most/all of parasites are caused by animal products. Hell, the "animal by-products" is what caused my cat to get worms. Uncooked meat can give you infections and disease. Does anyone follow?

Yes..absolutely..its really disgusting to me when I see someone order a big bloody rare steak..I wanna throw up thinking of what could be hiding in there. I dont eat much animal products anymore..little cheese, little chicken, the occasional turkey sub..and I always cook my meat very well. Eventually Ill probably just go all the way vegetarian..it seems like longer and longer passes in between the times I eat meat nowadays.

Many very healty long lived people all over the world eat meat and dairy products.

I think sugars, even from fruit and especially grains can feed parasites very well.

I don't eat any meat, but yes you are right. Even vegetarians can get parasites. That's why I do a cleanse every so often :)

There is a growing body of evidence that suggests the use of isoquinoline and tryptamine-related alkaloids such as the beta-carbolines is effective in the control of intestinal parasitic worms and microbes by forest-dwelling people.

Another well-known alkaloid chemical, berberine, has been documented to have hypotensive, antifungal, and antimicrobial actions. This chemical has been used for the treatment of irregular heartbeat, cancer, Candida, diarrhea, and irritable bowel syndrome. Another alkaloid called cissampeline is sold as a skeletal muscle relaxant drug in Ecuador.

Best is

The two can be combined! :D

Im sure if you have parasites they can feed off most things we eat. There are plenty of other benefits to a low meat/meat free diet though..but thats a whole other thread. ;)

Update- Im about halfway done with my parasite flush..seems to be going well..I havent seen any noticable parasites but taking the herbs along with the colon cleansing and healthy diet has really made me feel good and clean inside. Right now Im debating doing a juice fast for a day or so..I cant decide. Ive had NO bad side effects from taking the herbs. Ill update more if anything else of interest happens with this.

A somewhat related story:

The other day I went to a friend's newly-opened restaurant. The dish I ordered was a Korean one, so it had a ton of peppers and garlic. When I started to eat it, I immediately realized it was a good bit spicier than what I was used to being able to handle. But I didn't want to seem rude in not eating it. So I toughed it out, mouth burning and sweating away.

Later that night, I got the most intense cramps in my lower stomach, I thought I was having a baby (I'm male).

I had to rush my friend to the bar we were headed to, so that I could 'use the stall.' To avoid grossing people out, let me just say that my bowel movements for the next 24 hours or so were urgent, preceeded by cramps, and the stool itself contained what I'm almost completely sure were worms. The only other thing they could have possibly been were maybe undigested bean sprouts, but I hadn't eaten them or anything else stringy in quite a while...

Mad props for SLM and her post.

I just want you to know that this information should be taken with a large grain of salt. It's safe to say that the overwhelming majority of Americans do not have intestinal worms (although that figure is different in other countries), and if you did, you would almost certainly know about it in one way or another.

"How common is ascariasis?
Ascariasis is the most common human worm infection. Infection occurs worldwide and is most common in tropical and subtropical areas where sanitation and hygiene are poor. Children are infected more often than adults. In the United States, infection is rare, but most common in rural areas of the southeast."

Even people with asymptomatic worms can pass segments in their stool (such as with beef tapeworms in particular), or be afflicted with other general symptoms. I've seen worms passed in feces before (at least with infected animals), and they're unmistakeable--they're living organisms, and they move. Tapeworm segments (proglottids) probably don't move, but they are also unique, so far as I know.

In truth, if someone did pass a worm, the best way to get rid of them is with medication, because there's probably no way all the eggs can be removed with a colonic. This is especially true of liver flukes, which mature in human bile ducts:

If this treatment works for you, or makes you feel more secure, more power to you. But as SLM said, I think it's important to see all sides of a medical issue like this.

Yikes! Thats really gross...I wouldnt imagine they would be bean sprouts..that is, unless you swallow your food whole. :\

You should definately look into getting on the herbs or some other form of worm medication.
