Papaver somniferum

Non dried? What ARE you on about, I use DRIED pods, you put them in a coffee grinder? I heard you use a razor on a ripe fresh pod and the opium oozes out which you have to scrape off. No idea how to use fresh, maybe one of those pipes
You can but its a lot of work and you need A LOT of poppies to get a reasonable amount that way. If you are just doing your own little garden I highly recommend just doing tea. Though I as well have only made tea from dried pods, I believe I used around an oz but this was a long time ago I could be mistaken, and also the alkaloid content can vary a lot so its good to err on the side of caution.

Good news! It couldn't be more simple. You just take that sap and put it in your mouth. That's it.

I shed a tear when I think of all the precious opium that has been wasted by people trying to turn it into something smokable when they could have just eaten it for great effects. There's this very strong, historical and cultural notion that opium is smoked, but the vast majority of people who are just growing a few cheeky plants are better off eating the sap and/or making tea from the pods.

It's the KISS method (keep it simple, smoothbrain)

Did this the other day. Really mild but long lasting buzz and heavy nausea. All other opiates I've done have never given me this level of nausea for mild effects. Sure when I've been blasted out of my gord on oxy or methadone or h Ive trown up, but I was really high. The fresh latex produced a very mild buzz with heavy nausea. Is it possible the thebaine content was super high?

I am happy to be proved wrong by hard evidence, but I think the thebaine scare is mASSIVELY overstated. When I read (admittedly years ago) from the Tasmanian government website stated that 'Normans' (thebaine high strain which are used to produce oxy and other Bentley compounds) are carefully separated from the high morphine strains, as these special (Norman) strains are considered a trade secret or protected item. The gov website clearly stated that high morphine seeds were sold on for culinary purposes, while thebaine seeds were destroyed.

The fact is that natural opium (and especially if you are consuming tea from pods with all the natural non-alkaloid substances in them) is pretty rough on the guts when compared to semi-synthetic, or synthetic opioids like Oxy, bupe, and others which have been designed for less histamine response and more tolerability. I started with opium sap and pod tea and then went to opioids like oxy, and I was surprised at how much more tolerarable these were. I suspect upset stomach is just natural. It can be mitigated by taking an anti-histamine (diphenhydramine is the gold standard for me, but first gen anti-histamines will work too).

Again, this is my experience and knowledge. I'm happy to be proven wrong and/or updated.
