Hi friends, just wondering if anyone had any tips for growing Papaver Somniferum? As I understand it they love sunlight and love a lot of water when the seeds have just been planted. Also to just cast the seeds on top of soil.

How long do they usually take to sprout if planted this time of year?

Is growing in peat pots first a good idea? If so should the amount of seeds per pot be kept to a minimum or does it not matter too much?

What are good fertilisers?

Can you speed the process along from seeds planted to sprouting in anyway?

Can you grow these in pots instead of a garden without limiting the yield per plant significantly?

Any other useful tips? Assuming these are for a very novice gardener

Thanks heaps!
