Hi... first post... umm so just wondering... I just took 7 panadine forte and 5 nurofen plus... yes I no it's not the smartest move but just being cautious... the dose shouldn't be too bad in terms of od??

7 Panadine Forte (Paracetamol 500mg & Codeine Phosphate 30mg) & 5 Nurofen Plus (200mg of ibuprofen and 12.8mg of Codeine Phosphate) ?

So if I am right that is 3.5 grams APAP, 1 gram Ibuprofen and 274 mg of codeine? I would not think that you would come to much harm from the paracetamol or ibuprofen as they are both within (UK, do not know about Australia) daily recommended limits, but if you are opiate naive 274mg of codeine is a fair amount. I cannot see you coming to much harm from this as a one off, but to repeat this regularly may flirt with codeine dependency and using those doses of the other drugs day in and out will not do your insides any favours in the long run. If it is the codeine that you are interested in, there is a simple procedure used to separate codeine phosphate from combination drugs known as a cold water extraction, there are plenty of threads around Bluelight on how to perform this so why not give our search engine a whirl if you wish to have a look.

Stee - I think the guidelines are 4 grams in 24 hours. Taking 3.5 grams at once isn't safe and can have a toxic effect on your liver (I think the maximum suggested single dose is 1000mg / 1 gram).

OP - as Stee has pointed out, CWE is the safest thing you can do when using anything containing APAP.

Welcome to the site btw - please also take into consideration that even if you feel no negative effects from large doses of APAP it can be having a toxic effect on your liver so repeated exposure could lead to serious problems.

You're absolutely right Bear, I should have been more specific regarding that. I usually go on the max 24 hour dose but as you have pointed out, taking the entire lump in one go is even more dangerous than dividing the doses. All I wanted to stress is that while the OP may not have harmed themselves if this was in fact a one off, it should really not be repeated in any fashion if you want any sort of operable liver at the end. CWE is the safest way to go acutely, but depending on the OP's current drug use I really do not want to be encouraging a codeine dependence which is of course as difficult to deal with as any poppy addiction. Just playing devils advocate as per usual xx <3
 
Thanks for clearing that up Steeve - I always suggest doing a CWE, APAP can have a horrible effect on your liver and people often forget the dangerous associated with it.
