Opioids Painted poppy pods

I stumbled across some poppy pods that someone had painted white. I wonder if it's safe to make tea of those pods? Do you have any experience with such pods?

I don’t like drinking or eating paint, so no I stick with organic pods

I don't think there is a safe way to either identify the potential toxicity of that paint or separate it from the pods.

There may be even more than paint on them to prevent the pods from deteriorating, other toxic substances.

My question is .....why would someone literally paint the pods and white of all colors?

Did you randomly come across these in someone's yard?

Those are for decorative purposes, ie flower arrangements. And you shouldn't need anyone to tell you that it's not safe to ingest paint.
