I took the Sublocade shot after being on suboxone for about 6 months. I was extremely motivated to be off suboxone. I absolutely hated being so sleepy all the time and of course the sexual side effects were little to be desired. Here’s how it went down:
Day 1: took 100mg Sublocade shot. Was a little bit sleepier than on suboxone, but pretty similar. Sexual side effects were slightly worse as there was never a time I had only a little bupe in me (I would time my suboxone dose at noon and have sex at 11). No cravings or anything though. Worked as intended
Day 30: almost to the minute, had crazy hot sweats withdrawals. Nothing like a suboxone withdrawal, but still uncomfortable. Took 2 kratom gummies an was fine
Day 31-60: was taking 2 kratom gummies to help my body adjust. Sleepiness and sexual side effects still present but improving
Day 60: woke up feeling incredibly sexually charged. Could almost feel the fact that the bupe still in my body had moved to the remnant stage of leaving my body. Felt amazing
Day 61-65: took nothing and felt great
Day 66: my brain and body were screaming at me that I wasn’t done with substances just yet. Took some kratom gummies and was fine. Discouraged that my mind and body weren’t ready to move on like I thought they were, but still 1,000 times better than suboxone
The past several months: still taking kratom for the sole purpose of withdrawal avoidance, but as I’m not using it to try and feel high, my daily life is much improved. I look forward to kicking the kratom soon as it costs a decent penny and is still a crutch, but no rush after dealing with suboxone/sublocade. Trying to accept the wins as they come. But understand that taking bupe fucks with your brain and body in ways you won’t expect.
I hope this story is helpful to you. My nuanced position on Sublocade is that if you’re already on suboxone and want to get off it, it’s a miracle. But I’m super upset that I ever got on bupe in the first place for being a pill popper and kratom user. I think that was killing a fly with a bazooka. But we are where we are, and I’d say I’m generally a fan.
