Hi Everyone,
This is the first time ive ever been to a site like this so please be patient with me!
Basically I've just had a tooth extracted and am in pain. I'm on a subutex maintanance program( large dose), so most stronger painkillers are not effective. Need to know if anything will work? Thanks

Welcome, Bupe is also Rx'd for pain also so it should give you some relief, obviously if your on high dose Subs then opiate painkillers aren't gonna help.
Ibuprofen and Paracetamol(APAP) are good OTC meds for tooth ache and can be taken together, a natural option is to suck on a couple of cloves.
Frequent saline rinses will help to prevent infection and inflammation.

Yeah, I have exactly the same problem as you OP. I've found ibuprofen teamed with paracetamol can make an excellent combination as already posted. Rubbing oil of cloves on your gums will numbe the surface of the skin temporarily but probably won't really ease the nerve in the tooth itself. Obviously, bupe is gonna limit your options re pain relief; taking opiates would be pointless.

Right now, I have an advanced tooth infection that affects the entire side of my face (even my eye socket), and unfortunately the only relief I can get from the intense pain is by injecting a lidocaine solution directly into my gums, it works very well in that completely numbs the pain for a couple hours, but it's probably not a good idea to do this; I only did it out of desperation.
