Painkillers for rereational uses, your thoughts??

Hi, you guys KeepsGettinBetter here, new member glad to be here lol, now one of the reasons I came across this forum is because Im workin on a final paper a debating discussion , now painkillers are indeed used for treatment of pain, like vicodan, loratab, etc, or the one that works best for me tramadol, but there are also uses like recreational purposes like getting a good buzz or anything like that, now my side of the argument is that using drugs for those reason isnt a bad thing- as long as responsible uses and moderation are used to prevent any ODs and bad additions yu know? and I confess Im speaking from a personal experience too like when I have one of those days like we all have, when I get home at night, Id pop a tramadol 50mg, 2 of them to be exact to give me a good little buzz then I'll listen to music watch movies, chat wit my friends until I fall alseep, not to mention that when I take those I sleep like a baby, the sleep factor is heavenly, and again I dont think its such a bad thing I mean we all have those days and if you dont want to drink why not use them, as long as their yours or the person your getting them from , family member best friend is ok with it wats the big deal, now to complete ,my paper I need some opinions from others , and Im hoping maybe some of you guys might be willing to share your opinions and thoughts wheter their negative or positve it would really help me out thanks!

Well at first I think a lot of us felt that opioids are easily used as recreational drugs and I think that this is where you're at with your use. As time goes on and usage becomes more and more frequent, addiction both mental and physical creeps in. A phrase that we say a lot around here is that no one plans on becoming an addict/junkie and despite your intentions or plans if you use these substances with any increasing regularity you will catch a habit. We all know it's hard to see when you're barely using like yourself but, addiction is life changing and because of this I would never recommend anyone take up opiates/opioids for recreation.

Pay no mind to anyone that's trying to be a dick about your spelling but, OG does have a point. If you're writing a paper you'll probably want to get the spelling of the substances right.

Really, I think opiates are kinda shitty as far as bona fide recreational potential goes.

What kind of high do they give you? I mean, it's not anything too special, right? Sure there's some warm fuzzies, but there's also some side effects.

To really experience the great release/orgasmic relief from opiates, you kinda have to be addicted.

^have you tried morphine/hydromorphone/oxycodone/hydrocodone or even stronger opiates? They are insanely recreational, can take you from feeling like a piece of shit to feeling like God. As long as you don't nod out they are as fun as stimulants IMO, just in different ways. They give me a tremondous buzz for a while, that warm opiate blanket, no worries, no anxiety, no pain, i love playing guitar, just laying around, it is inherently enjoyable. A better question is are opiates more recreational than stims? cause they're certainly more recreational than benzos. And where does alcohol fit in there? depends on the person i guess.

OP I think your opinion might change when you take some real opiates, i could never even feel 100mg of tramadol, even with no tolerance. There's a vast difference between tramadol and strong opiates.

^that's true as well, if you have no tolerance, opiates suck because you get sick, side effects. but after a few weeks of daily use, you will understand why they are recreational and why people ruin their lives with them. After a while though, say a year or so of daily use, opiates are no longer recreational, i agree with that. They basically keep you running normally (or slightly better IMO) yet still provide some relaxation/euphoria along with the scary prospect of withdrawal.

I think your paper is describing something that is plainly obvious to everyone on earth. Yeah opiates are fun, for a while anyway. Are they a better substitute than alcohol? i'd say so but i like opiates and don't like alcohol much. Opiates are at least far more healthy for the body than alcohol is, maybe you can base your premise on that idea.

i would say unless you are very strong willed and dont have an addictive personalty, you mighgt get away with using opiates recreationally..i used them once every couple months for a few years, and then i grew into the scene and was introduced to the right peopole who coulkd get the better pills and during that time i was able to chip and use once every 10days or so cause i was working and hustling and that took up most of my time and when you have more weed then yopu know what to do with, its gets boring and when yougot some mo0ney to spend and not being a fan of speed and uppers and things that make you trip and so i started poppin pills and smokin weed. that was about the same time i stopped drinking cause i hustled outta my car, i couldnt get pulled over and risk a drunk DUI but i look back and i wouldnt drink but i would smoke 10blunts while driving and never thought of getting a DUI that way and we would ride around all day everyday and yeah i got arrested ofor weed like 4times i think during that time and twice they found scales vbut the weed which i always kept under a half OZ was in one bag and my reason for the scale was "i dont drink, im a smoker and i justsplit whatever with a friend cause its cheaper to buy in bulk and having the weed in my car once a month for 10mins max other then buying a gram every other day and having all those opprotunities to get pulled over like this and we wanted to make sure we split it even and didnt get ripped off" and i always left home with sings and fives only ib my pockets and once i sold moat of the half i would stiop home drop off money and refill the sack and continue the day., so i never had a ton of money to make it look like i was hustlin..and so with all that i still got arrested but they believe that u was just a smoker and didnt charge me with intent even thiough i had a scale..for bags i would use note book paper from my backpack and make a pouch..i did that everyday for yearsand right when i had everyone set up and me having to do nopthing, a friends friends snitchs and gives enoiuygh info to pull me over on a chance and catch me with 10grams and cause i had my dog they took me back to my house and asked my mom to sewarch..and she consented. yes you read that riught, she consented but they lied and scared her threating to seize the house if they have to get a warretn and find something and threated to keep her car that was a year old and making paymenbts on(i was driving her car when i got pulled over) and so she let them search..they pullled a pound outta tha garage and maybe an 8th of persoanl shake, the found like 5 bags of dope with 3bags lined up ready to go on my table and about 2k in cash even though they claimed only 540..and that was the worst part cause i had it hid in a hat(had a couple stacked up) and it was hangin on my tv stand and when they let me go in to change they slammed my dresser drawer shut and the money fell literally outta the sky..lol no it just dropped from my hat and the cop looked at me like "NO SHIT!"..they had completly missed it and would have left it if i didnt ask, and them, actually let me go into the house to put some clothes on..that pissed me off the most cause it was my fault. because i made such a big deal to not go to jail in basketball shorts, sandals and a hoodie but no shirt underneath..it was just i had been in jail a few times and i know how cold it gets in there and i knew i was stayin for a lil while


what was weird was they asked for the keys to my safe and i gave it to them cause i didnt keep no money in it except old collectable bills, which they took cause they are assholesbut i had a little glass vial of xanax(5pills) that was just standing in the corner, but the lockbox is small, i didnt know how he didnt notice it..i also found like an extra 8th they missed

Also, vicodin=lortab, just different manufacturers, same active ingredient - hydrocodone.

I do think there is something wrong with people using opiates for recreation as it ultimately leads to addiction. I used to think they were fun too, but now it's just the difference between being sick or being well.

I've been using Norcos for about 5 years straight now and I've seen more then my share of people take them every one starts out the same only taking them when they need them or when they wanna feel a buzz and before you know it won't have to take them or your sick and every one thinks Oh not me but truth is know body is that bad ass you take Em long Nuff it will happen its jus how it is so my answer would have to be no if you don't really need them don't touch em trust me you don't know pain Untell you don't have you opiate pain pills that you been taking for how ever long and it don't take long before you will be sick if you don't have to them

Yea i go back and forth I used the black tell I'm tired of it then use Norcos tell you the truth I like the Norcos better for some Strang reason probably because it's hard to find good black now a days I don't know but ether way it's all bad and in the end know matter how much you like the high you will wish you didn't have to take anything

I hear that. I used to be big into Oxy but sort of ran out of options and just switched to H once they started fucking with the formula of all the good pills. I recently had some blue 30s and remembered just how much better I like Oxy than Heroin. It has been so long since I've enjoyed some so I wasn't sure if I just liked it for the nostalgia or whatever, but god damn no it's so much better. Fuck Heroin. Buuuut, once my addiction got big enough it sort of stopped being about finding the best high and more so of what I can get the most of for the least money. If they both had the same price and availability I would gladly never do heroin again in favor of Oxycodone.

But for real, that shit has become such a chore and I just remember back to when I used to be able to enjoy rather than just survive.

This is prolly a little different opinion that most on here. But in my experience with opiates i am kind of the opposite. I had a heroin/oxy habit for 4 years up until 2012. Got clean in before prison and now I use opiates occasionally. Like once every couple months maybe. I definitely still remember the days of being strung out looking all day for what i needed just to not feel like shit. It's nice now to only need a 30mg oxy to get blasted but i won't ever let myself get back to daily using and spending all my cash on it.

I have chronic pain due to back injuries and I thought i needed the painkiller everyday then got hooked. When i made the decision to get clean I basically packed up and moved to california and went cold turkey from a .5g/day H habit. And since then I've been using really good medical marijuana to combat my daily pain/insomnia.

The statement "everything in moderation" is the most true with opiates in my opinion. Its a drug that will have you hooked way before you even realize it. It's the strongest addiction i've ever seen.

True, just always been hard for me to do the whole moderation thing with opiates. Ever since the first time I ever tried them, it was all I wanted to do all day every day for the rest of my life. I was just a stupid kid back then who had no money/no way to easily get drugs and had a life outside of getting high or going to work, so I was unintentionally able to keep it in check which caused me to assume that I was stronger than addiction- "hey look I can use this stuff a lot and I don't have a problem. It's called will power you weak minded addicts". I was wrong. I am both weak minded and an addict.

I really have a hard time with moderation in general, but opiates are the big one for me. Didn't happen as fast as I always thought addictions came about either, I didn't consciously decide one day "hey wow I really like this drug so I'm gonna do it every day and spend all of my money on it from now on until I start to ruin my life", I just liked it enough to slowly start using it more and more until one day I looked around me I was balls deep in it and couldn't pull out.

Used to do a handful of them at a time.. about 10-20.
Luckily I never had a seizure from the fuckers.

I agree with reckless. Ever since I had my first opiate all I wanted was more & more, despite how many times I've puked off it.
I don't have an excuse as to why I do opiates.. "Oh my life is so bad because my childhood sucks" etc.. nope, I just do it because I like to get high.. lol
So, PK's for recreational use? Maybe, if you're strongly against drugs, but take PK's for pain anyway.. Then you might not get addicted..
But if you like to take PK's & get high.. there's no turning back. You're going to end up fucked.

But make know mistake it you (you as in everyone) will get addicted its jus how it is I'm now taking Norcos I went from h to Norco and I'm attempting to stop by taking one less pill a day in currently at 13 that may sound hi to a normal non opiate user or beginner but the rest of us know that not vary many at a time it's hard to not take more but so far so good ill keep Ya'll posted on how it goes
