Opioids Painkillers and promethazine

so i have a few promethazine that i know will do nothing for me. but i head that the reason its mixed with codiene cough syrup is because it enhances the effect. this being said could i save my promethazine and use it to make any painkiller i take more potent?

I find promethazine potentiates codeine, but take it once i feel the codeine i'm not sure if thats because they compete for the same enzymes... there are threads on here that explain it's potentiating abilities
