Well, basically,,,
My mate has Hodgkins lymphoma, hes had it for 5-6 years and constantly undergoing treatment.
He currently receives oramorph 50ml (100mg) a day, but as oral morphine is shitty hes drinks shit loads of it.
lately hes taking loads and running out before his repeat is due. (then taking diazepam etc.. that hes not prescribed)
Iv said to him codeine would be just as useful (as hes just eating his morph.) but hes convinced morphines the only thing that'll make him feel good.

so what else can he request in the uk for cancer related pain etc.. ?
I know oxy is available for cancer but dont think hes keen of the stimulation hes read about.
thanks for any help guys :)

Diconal...

Thanks for the reply mate, but he doesn't IV so don't think thats his best option,
and not too sure but probably quite hard to find a doc that will issue it? (I really don't know much about diconal, only heard of it a few months ago, what I read made the impression it was only good for injecting)
any others?

fentanyl patches might be worth him looking into. Theres a lot of options of good pain relief for cancer patients. tho i know oramorph is used alot. ms contin is a morphine tablet i think might also be worth a look in
