Pain in arm due to xanax?

I recently obtained some .5mg generic alprazolam tablets from an illicit source. Last night I took one tablet before bed and woke up and hour or two later with some serious pain in my upper right arm/shoulder area. It felt like a pulled muscle but worse. I got up and took 400mg of ibuprofen and went back to bed. The pain continued all through the night, very unpleasant, unbearable at some points. I got up once again to take another 200mg ibuprofen and an acetaminophen/methocarbamol mixture (not sure of dosage) and that didn't help either. My girlfriend suggest a heat pillow, no luck. I've been up for about an hour, and the pain feels as if it is lessening, but still quite persistent. I do not recall having an experience like this in a very long time (after ingesting drugs or not). I did not do any strenuous activity the day before either.

I have only taken alprazolam 3 times before, at a range of 250mcg - 750mcg, without an issues like this. I have also taken other benzos such as lorazepman, klonopin and diazepam occasionally over the years.

Does anybody think this experience was due to the alprazolam? Or just coincidence? I found a couple websites that listed pain in arms/legs and weak muscles as uncommon side effects.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah, this doesn't sound like a benzo would do this.... .

I've taken several kinds of benzos & never even remotely had any kind of pain. Benzos relax you & tend to relax the muscles as well.......

Are you sure you received xanax? How dependable is your source?

It is a very trustworthy source, I'm sure it is xanax. I'm also thinking it is more likely to be unrelated, but I surely wouldn't want to experience that again... I will post back in this thread if I get any of the same effects from a future dose. Thanks!

Sometimes when I take benzos and have a hard crash, I tend to sleep on one side a little too hard. Waking up sore in the morning. But that does not sound like what happened to you. We can only guess the reason for that. Have you taken any more since?
