I have a first appointment scheduled at a pain clinic next week, and I'm very worried about the possibility of being drug tested. From what I've read this seems common, but does it usually happen on the first visit? My concern is because I've been smoking weed several times a week for a little while now and I've heard of people being kicked out of their clinic after showing a positive for THC.
However, the papers I've been given to fill out before the appointment don't mention anything about UA or a pain contract etc. (edit: I guess this is logical tho because they don't want to give people time to cleanse their system). Although it does state that they do not prescribe opiates on first visits, if that's relevant.
Any thoughts/experiences?
If I were to be tested on this first visit, would it be a good idea to be honest with the doc about my cannabis usage (for pain management esp.) but also sound determined to discontinue usage? If they were a compassionate doc I'd think they'd at least give a second chance. I'm thinking about this because I doubt I have enough time to clear my system of THC before the appointment.
