Pacquiao vs Mayweather Jr!

this is going to be epic and exactly what the sport of boxing as a whole needs in the modern media. I never thought that both parties would agree to this match-up, which is just what we should have expected from boxing in the 2000s.

it's too early for me to be picking sides, but I am nearly salivating with interest.

I've never even given a shit about a boxing match before this one. When was the last time a boxing match was interesting?

I feel a tinge of guilt watching a sport in which the primary objective is to give your opponent a concussion, however.

I watch a couple fights a month + mma events - probably spend couple hundred on payper view, but the way I see it - if i go out that night, I drop that much at a club/bar anyway, so I'll be that introverted gambler instead =D

Meh, I don't like "Money" Mayweather and Pacquiao is too small to beat him:|

Bad, boring decision or TKO for the american wanker.

Pacquiao is exactly what is needed against mayweather. Mayweather has intense defensive skills, a "bigger" guy would have problems landing and a brawler, well, we all know what happened to Hatton. Pacquaio is fast, great accuracy, packs a decent punch and has good stamina. He knows how to string a combo together as well.

Mayweather struggled slightly against Zab Judah until Judah characteristically ran out of energy. Speed and accuracy will be the most important thing; landing a shot and not taking one back is pretty difficult vs mayweather.

No bashing my boy hitman - he had a good run, if you really think pacman can't take down Mayweather I dunno what to say but look @ his record - the dude always has doubters and always is on top of the game at any weight he comes in at. Should be a good fight, and frankly, boxing needs it.

Hatton was a good light welterweight, especially when he fought Kostya Tszyu, but unfortunately I think Hatton's lifestyle got the better of him. The older you get the harder it is to go from beer belly back to fighting fit. Hatton didn't have the dedication to keep himself in shape even when he wasn't fighting and it caught up with him.

I hope he fights Khan before retiring. Was a shame to see Barrera hampered by that cut (clash of heads), I still don't think Khan has been properly tested even though he hasn't put a foot wrong since losing to prescott.

Hatton was an over-rated world champ from Britian who beat an over-the-hill Kosta Tsyzu, and really, it's been all downhill for him since that point.

I would never have expected Hatton to have a chance to defeat Mayweather, who is possibly the greatest defensive boxer that the world has seen. He has technical mastery over most men and Pacquiao, unfortunately, is made for Mayweather.

He's shorter, lighter and he likes to come forward constantly. It makes for a great show, but Mayweather does not fight in fights he thinks he might lose.

Not to mention that floyd will probably come in grossly overweight like he did against JMM, and that Pacquiao probably just sees this fight as passing go, collecting a lot of millions and retiring to a life as a senator in the phillipines.

All I know is that Pac Man trying to not do all the blood-testing is some BS!!! He is nice; but he better not have been cheating this whole time. I guess I'd go with Mayweather if I had to but Pacquiao better step up to the occasion and make this happen...too much money at stake not to!

So much for my "this better not fall apart" - it's drawing fucking blood, stop being a little bitch about it and just do it. Normally i wouldn't back 90% of what mayweather says, cuz he talks nonsense nonstop. But this is legit, and now you got freddy roach callin out floyd saying he's afraid. Whose the one afraid of a needle and gettin blood work done ? Bullshit!!!!

Im sure they will make it happen in the end, but never gonna forget Pac bein a pussy over drawing some blood lmao. Plus if he loses he'll look like a cheater anyway and should retire afterwords.

I see this a more of a Mayweather instigation. It wasn't like Pacquiao wasn't going to submit to a blood test a month out then urine tests and the like up to the fight. I can't think of one doping scheme that would not be picked up immediately after the fight that would actually aid a fighter. It is just petty mind games at play to try and unnerve a superstitious fighter. Mayweather has more to lose coming out and being defeated.

I agree with Axl, another reason why boxing is dying.

Yup, the testing that would have taken place was exactly that proscribed by the boxing comission. The same as every other fight there in recent years and the Mayweather camp suddenly make the fight contingent on Olympic style blood tests.

Pity though.

Mayweather might fight Mosley. While not as exciting as it would have been a couple of years ago, still a pretty good fight to be had there.
