PA, Butler - 09.10.04 - 09.12.04 - Subzero Presents: A Tribute to 9/11! *REVIEW*

ouch.

Just wanted to say sorry to Shannon for the unspeakable loss she took on this event. You live, you learn...what separates the elite from the disillusioned is actually learning from your mistakes, and correcting them for future ventures...

so here's my details:

got into cleveland, no one there to pick me up. took a taxi (with my own money, of which i brought little) only to find that the hotel had been reserved, but not paid for. spent three hours hashing that shit out (thanks to andy james for picking me up and getting me someplace to eat and hang out for a bit).

the next day, i spent in the hotel all day with no food (no restaurants near hotel and no money since that had been spent on taxis and shit), until the promoters had a pizza sent to my hotel. then spent about 5 hours on the phone back and forth hearing that they were "looking" for a ride for me. LOOKING??? that shit needs to have been dealt with prior to the party. at one point i was asked if i would mind riding in the back of a van that had no backseat. uhhh...yeah...very much. would you ask your djs to ride in the fucking trunk? classy. verrry classy...

at about midnight (i was scheduled to play at 1 am), the promoter's phone dies and i am left yelling at a voicemail. i spend the next two hours calling around the country and getting numbers of djs and performers at the event. i finally reach someone who is at the hotel near the venue, who gives me the promoter's room number. i finally speak to the promoter again at around 3 or 3:30 (a full 2 hours AFTER i was supposed to be playing).

i did finally get the expense money as well as a ride to the airport from the promoter (left at the airport with a full 3 hours to wait for my flight however).

i am not gonna sit and slag people, but i will say this: new promoters should NEVER begin by throwing large two day events. had i realized the extent of this promoter's inexperience, i probably would have never taken the booking. at this point, this is a reminder to me that i will never play for new promoters again, and i will also send anyone who wants a booking to my agent, so i don't have to stress myself out dealing with the bullshit anymore.

i spent my entire weekend in a hotel room ,when i could have been at home writing music and chillin' with my cat. it was a wasted weekend, and three days of my life that i can never get back.

ya live ya learn i guess...sorry to anyone else who went throught similar shit.
