So i guess i'd like to retell my recent mushroom trip while its still fresh in my mind and the wonderfull after effects (which I hope are indefinite) continue to soothe my body and spirit. Maybe a quick bit of background info: My psychedelic exploration before this trip was extremely limited, having only being frequently smoking pot for about 5-6 months and dabbling in various mild psychoactive herbs.
The setting was a good, close old friends property tucked finely away in a dense, alive sub-tropical rainforest. The day would mainly begin and then consist of waking up, smoking a spliff, having breakfast, playing fuseball, tending to the fire but most importantly; the daily shroom hunt!
The daily shroom hunt was a constant battle against the shroom hungy cows who meticulously grazed through the shroom paddocks, indiscriminately munching down the well sought after golden tops we lusted for. That and the constant stormy weather meant there were only 10 minute periods or so where we would have to dart out to scour the field for the fungi.
I'd taken a low dose trip in the form of a mint brew tea the previous evening, finding only uncomfortable thoughts and irritability (I blame the binge drinking the night before and 3 hours of sleep.) However, now I was rested, and ready to give the shrooms a better psychoactive assessment.
We consumed roughly two grams each in the form of a hazlenut and chocolate smoothie (fuckin delicious) and settled back to let the shrooms kick in. Note: I'm a small guy - (18 years old,130 pounds or so) so I thought this would probably be an appropriate dose. Within 15-20 minutes of consuming the smoothie I felt a comforting warmth, emanating from the depths of my solar plexis, with slight hints of anticipation. What happens after the 40ish minute mark is hard to remember chronologically as time becomes irrelevant whilst tripping, but I found a few thoughts which struck me most prominantly.
The first and most ?€œspiritual?€ effect which comes to mind was the overwhelming sense of a physical energy intertwinning all of the individuals surrounding the fire; a connectivity so raw and intense, no exterior circumstance could possibly shake what was there; energy in its purest most present form.
This was solidified by gazing at the absolute majesty of the night sky; I perceived the sheer depth and immensity of the universe in a way I had never thought possible. It was like the wonder of visiting an observatory as a five year old child times ten; a deep peace washed through my body.
The other interesting effect was the complete dismantlment of social barriers and inhibitions; not anywhere to the extent of alcohol, but in a much more pure and open sense.
It really is very difficult to articulate the trip; all I can say is, three days on and I feel fantastic. Mushrooms have awakened my mind; I feel the last 18 years of my life have been spent mainly asleep, in a wonderfull fairy land; I feel a deep excitement and anticipation to journey further down the rabit hole and explore the infinite capabilities of my mind.
