Oysters instead of B12 supplements, for a raw food vegan diet?

No I haven't "pretty much" argued any such thing.
Please quote me doing so, or retract your statement.

instead of eating a healthy well-balanced diet like a normal person would go on thinking your asinine diet is somehow ideologically elite and going to save the planet while you deprive your body of vital nutrients.

I never said I was going to save the planet. I'm not concerned, at all, about that.
I just don't want to - personally - cause damage to the environment because I can't justify it to myself.
My diet is balanced. There's nothing wrong with it.
I don't think I'm part of some elite.
I just wanted some advice.

I don't understand your tone.
Why the anger, sarcasm and capital letters?
Why are you calling me abnormal and (my diet) asinine?
What have I done to deserve any of this?

I asked a question that pertains to health, on a Healthy Living forum.
I have not been insisting that the word vegan includes shellfish.
You're being really weird.

Lol, ok...

I'm on a raw food vegan diet.

No.

Assuming that you're vegan for the sake of the animals, consuming non-sentient "animals" is still "vegan". Isn't it?

No.

What I'm doing is mostly spiritual. I'm experimenting with what I consume and how it affects the clarity of God's voice.

That sounds totally sane.

All reputable scientific research that I've read indicates that oysters are not sentient. I don't know it as an absolute fact.

None of those quotes work, mate.

I'm on a raw food vegan diet.

I was on a raw food vegan diet when I wrote that, which I've already stated twice.

Assuming that you're vegan for the sake of the animals, consuming non-sentient "animals" is still "vegan". Isn't it?

I've already directly addressed this quote. As I said earlier, I put the word vegan in inverted comas. You've taken it out of context. In the context it was written, it was very clear what I was trying to say... If people decide to not eat animal products to avoid hurting animals, then consuming animals that can't be hurt should be okay.

That sounds totally sane.

So do your reaction/s to this thread.

I don't even understand this one... How does that indicate that veganism includes shellfish?

okay, oysters don't have the physiolocigal requirements to feel pain, but it "may" be possible. following the same logic, the same "may" be possible for plants...

how is the diet working for you in general? I've only met one guy who is eating raw vegan (with occasional beans and lentils), and he was very positive about it.

Yes, it may be possible. But it's unlikely, given what we know.
There is nothing to indicate that plants or oysters or grains of sand can comprehend pain.

...

Positives:

It makes me feel amazing, like I've just gotten back from the gym all the time. My lungs feel better. My muscles feel better. I shit three times a day and my bowel movements are instant. Two or three weeks on this diet cured a severe long-term soft tissue issue in my right shoulder blade, from being assaulted by the police 3 years ago. I am less depressed. I have an enormous amount of energy. It feels like a drug, without the comedown / negative effects on my health. It feels AMAZING. Really incredible. Eating meat and gluten, by contrast, is utterly horrible. I never realized how bloated and lethargic this food has made me, throughout my entire life. I think a lot of people would be really surprised about how incredible a shift in diet can make them feel.

Negatives:

I am hungry all the time, even when I've just eaten. It is significantly more expensive than a "normal" diet.

...

It is a huge transition, to take on permanently. I'm on a break from it, at the moment. I had a depressive episode / major relapse into drugs and alcohol, and the diet went with it unfortunately. I've been sober now for 12 days. Once the animal products in my house have been consumed, I'm going back to the diet... and I'll get my levels tested, and update this thread accordingly.

I highly recommend trying this diet, even for a week. But, then, I have bad reactions to gluten. So maybe it's different for me. I don't know. I suspect that gluten is not ideal for human consumption and that we began consuming it historically out of necessity / to avoid starvation.

Can you not get your B12 from Almonds or switching to Almond Milk - I prefer it over soy / Dairy and it tastes great on cereals. If you combine dates and bananas with this to make a smoothie you going to get a good dose of B12.

I don't think there is any B12 in almonds, dates or bananas.

Not sure what the hell I was thinking yesterday (mind you theres an empty bottle of Red wine in the bin:D) I know that Silk Pure Almond milk is fortified with Vitamin B12 - where the dates and bananas came from ?

Kelp has high amount of B12 and you can pick it up in health stores - Nori is another one - nutritional yeast (raw) and you can add it to pretty much anything.

I better check my posts from yesterday.

All good. :)

I've looked into kelp and nori... unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be effectively bio-available in sufficient quantities.

theres a ton of raw food forums on facebook and stuff, maybe they can help, on another note this made me remember last mothers day i went to the beach with mom, for lunch i had a dozen oysters and a dozen clams, RAw, when i got to the blanket , i laid down, and kinda was hugging the sand, i soon was in that state of half asleep and half awake, as my body began digesting these mollusks, i swear i kinda mentally transformed into a mollusk for a lil bit, it was pretty surreal,

You probably just had mercury poisoning.

LOL - or OD'd on the salt.

I know a couple of spots around Victoria where I can get good sized mussels in clean water - take one in each hand, smack them together and suck on the broken one - YUMMY stuff.

We've also built a pretty damn good oyster industry in Victoria - when I was growing up the ultimate was Sydney Rock Oysters, if you could get them. Victorian ones make them look silly - I think they grow better in the colder water.

I also remember eating scallops from Lakes Entrance both raw and cooked - they were so big in the 60's and early 70's you could cook them and have to cut them into four pieces to eat them.

le sigh...
