Hi, I've been taking 80mg of oxy's 3 times a day for 10 yrs..and 2mg of xanax 4 times a day for the last year.. I stopped taking xanax Feb 18Th and oxy Mar.17Th.. It's been over a month since I've had any drugs and I still feel very weak, have trouble sleeping, leg pain and just don't feel right in my head.. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced the same thing?? I'm starting to think I will never feel normal again.. :

Welcome to Bluelight. :)

You were using for a really long time so it's going to take awhile to feel completely normal again.

It's called Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome.

Sometimes it can last up to 6months or more from some people.
But it will get better as time goes by, hang in there and eat healthy.
Try to get exercise and stay away from opiates and benzo's.

You were using those substances for many years, so you have to give your body time to heal itself.

Take care my friend, Congrats on getting clean <3

is that possible you stop like this one day from the other? glad the you are so strong, so definitely keep up and one day you will feel as new

Well In all honestly I hit rock bottom..either I stopped taking the meds or I was gonna die,, The doctor put me on meds for fibro. I didn't know that withdrawal was so painful I thought the pain I was feeling when my meds wore off was from fibro. so for years I was stuck in drug land.. When the doctor put me on xanax a year ago is when I realized that what i was feeling was withdrawal because I ran out a few times and got really sick.. I stopped xanax and Oxycontin cold turkey.. although I still feel really bad the first few weeks were the worse..

Somtimes a person has to hit rock bottom to get clean. I am glad to see you have made it through the worst part and are well on your way to being opiate free. Check out The Dark Side forum for tons of helpful tips on staying clean as well as support from others.

Welcome to Bluelight!! :)

Please don't ever stop Xanax cold turkey. The oxy, fine but any benzo is so dangerous to stop cold turkey. I don't want to scare you but you are at risk for seizures, coma or death. You really need to sloooowly taper and I suggest you switch to Klonopin which is longer lasting. It's a pain in the ass, I know it. I'm still dealing with it after a year but you really gotta do the benzo thing the right way. Your doctor may even give you a taper plan that's too fast. Doctors aren't very benzo-wise. Please google the Ashton Manual and then hit up a site called Benzo Buddies.

You'll get through it.

Thanks for your responses very helpful.. I have a question for fixedatzero I stopped taking xanax over 60 days ago do you still think i'm in danger of having seizures, coma or death???.. I didn't know the risk of going cold turkey until later.. I did end up in the hospital shortly after stopping it.. I had severe chest pains,. I almost died in the ambulance,, They had to stop the ambulance to let a doctor on board.. That scared the s..t out of me..
