I am currently taking hydrocodone/APAP 10-325 every four hours (6 a day). I started on tramadol 50mg 6 a day and that did nothing. Then after 3 weeks I was moved up to hydrocodone/APAP 5-325 (still 6 a day) was on that for about 3 weeks helped more but still not enough relief. Then I was moved up again to hydrocodone/APAP 7.5/325 (again 6 a day) this helped much more than the others but still not great. But the main problem I was having was not the releif it was enough relief to stick with that dose expect it didn't last 4 hours until my next dose. It lasted 2 maybe 3 hours max. I told my doctor this after bein on the 7.5mgs for 2 weeks and he moved me up to 10/325. These work great I get great relief from them wen I take them but again only about 3 hours worth. My pm doc told me last time that it is likely that I have an extremely high metabolism and thas why the medicine isn't lasting four hours. He said if these don't work hell do test to confirm the high metabolism and to make sure I'm not just seeking a high and then we would try oxycodone. I think that the 10-325 hydrocodone is plenty strong I just think I need a long acting narcotic to go with it. So how should I ask my pm doctor for a long acting medication such as oxycontin or zohydro without just coming out and saying that bc if I just ask for it I will be red flagged bc I am only 19 years old.

Sorry, we don't allow questions asking what to say to doctors to get prescriptions. All we can tell you is to be honest with your doctor. Being any more specific is against the terms of use of this site and the posting guidelines.

I'm closing this.
