OxyContin 80 withdrawal

Hello friends, I suffer acute gout attacks on occasion and the pain can be totally debilitating, the standard painkillers no longer seem to have any effect.

I have had experience with opioids in the past, and a pain specialist prescribed OxyContin 80’s(4 weeks)(daily) due to that being the only extended release variant available where I am, the others being lower strength but IR.

The doc told me as long as I didn’t split the pill it would be more effective than 2x 40mg oxy ir, and more importantly less risk of addiction/withdrawl. So it’s been 3 weeks now, and they helped enormously, in the past I might have used the remaining 7 pills to taper down, but that would mean splitting the pill into quarters, and I was warned against doing that.

So my question is what can I expect after a month of 80mg oxy, and will Valium be sufficient to deal with any w/d, which my doc is insisting will be minor and last just a few days?

I would be grateful for any assistance, as I’m not as confident as my doc seems to be.

***oh and a side note, for some reason the pills have no markings, just a round green pill made by Ridge Pharma, apparently this is normal outside the U.S.
