Do these even provide pain relief? Had to take 3 10mg about an hour ago and still don't feel relief. I understand the OP is to prevent abuse but its also preventing its main purpose! My question, can I take any more?

I was recently scripted OP 30s and they did help with the pain some, but I went back to my doc 2 weeks later to get my 15 IRs. They're not nearly as good as the IRs on any level.

Whether you can take more or not is really down to you, the amount your biological being can accept without an overdose, and your tolerance. If you have to take more, add one tablet and titrate up from there only if you really need to.

What I really suggest though is you take them as prescribed, so they don't run out early, and you don't go into your next appointment with a higher tolerance than your doctor will script you.

If you're scripted a medication for pain relief and it's not cutting it without having to exceed Rx'd doses, IMHO you need to speak to your doctor about it. What type of pain is it for? Do you have a prior tollerance to opiates? There are other classes of medication that are more effective for many types of pain, especially if you are already opiate tolerant.

Just out of interest, which medicines are more effective than Opiates for pain?

This...talk with your doctor and ask for another option or to implement non narcotic medication like a muscle relaxer, lyrica, snri, ect..

Usually they will do a combo of IR and ER drugs if the ERs simply arent working good enough.

And I know that feel about OPs, such a buzzkill of two letters

IMO with much of my pain coming from digestive issues. The ops do the opposite when taken orally. I iv due to the fact I have a horrible stomach and digestive system but the ops in my experience caused more stomach pain then it helped.

^ This is not safe, and as I stated earlier rather than trying to manipulate a Rx you have to work with in unsafe ways, one's better served to talk with their doctor candidly.

I'm not claiming it was safe and I didn't recommend doing it. I'm relaying my experience with the op oxys when I was prescribed them.

I take OxyContin 20's 2x a day and I have stomach ulcers and some intestine issues and I swear that some days it just doesn't absorb! So I feel the pain...that said I can not tell you how bad it would be to inject the OP's....its bad enough to inject pills in general but this stuff will seriously ruin your veins. You don't want deep vein thrombosis or some shit...I don't even know why they make 10's...thats 5mg and then 5mg later basically...Idk either way I find OxyContin to work better than MS Contin and Exalgo ER, although they don't last 12 hours for me usually 8-10. I have severe tendon and bone pain in several joints. Unfortunetly my doctors are against breakthrough meds but try and see if your doctor can prescribe you Oxycodone or Oxymorphone for breakthrough pain.

Nothing! Its all a conspiracy! Lol but for real I know people think Cymbalta and Tylenol will help but if you send me home in severe pain with a bottle of tramadol you might get hit by the karma train. Opioids are not ideal for all types of pain but unfortunately there are no real options for various types of severe pain other than opioids...its like NSAIDs/Tylenol and then this giant gap between that doctors always try and fill with BS SNRI's and muscle relaxants which in honesty do help allot but never exceed the raw analgesic ability of an opioid...I seriously get pissed when doctors argue about this...my doctor tried to say Tramadol was "Better than OxyContin or Dilaudid"....I asked what she would request for her upcoming back surgery and the argument ended. I get the risk of abuse but honestly you can't take someones life away for fear of addiction...
