Hi I'm new to this site. And I need some help. How long after taking 20mg Oxycodone will withdrawal start to kick in? I'm still taking 2 x 30mg morphine sulfate ER per day or - one every 12 hours. Thanks I'm worried sick about it.
 
Sorry, I forgot to intro myself. I'm beta3242 and I have been on Oxycodone and morohine ER for sometime now.
 
Hi kitty. I was insufulating 6-10 20 mg per day. Along wit 15mg ER morphine 2x day. But now the clinic has put me on 4x 20 mg Oxycodone per day and upped the morphine to 1x30mg ER twice a day. My goal was to stop and go the oral route on the oxy but it's been hard. Ive been on the old regimen for about two years before being referred to pain mgmt who just made the change in regimen. I messed up and did more than I should and now have about 2 oxy per day left to last me until the 16th. And I'm going to be tested so I don't know what to do. I suffer from poly neuropathy ang unexplained total body ghost pain so my PCphys sent me to pain clinic for mgmt. thanks kitty
 
If you've only been taking the opiates you've been prescribed, you don't need to worry about testing. As far as cutting down, it's difficult, but the dosing schedule you've been given doesn't sound unreasonable in exchange for a guaranteed supply of such meds. You shouldn't experience too much in the way of withdrawal, maybe a little discomfort during the adjustment period.

Take as recommended if you can, for a while at least. If you are still experiencing pain, you can talk to your doctors about it.

I wonder if I cut the oxy into halves if this would help? In other words 6 x 10mg halves every four hours and by mouth. No more other route. This is reducing harm by not insufulating and only taking orally.

But can I cut 30mg control release morphine in half? Then I could take a half every 6 hours instead of two every 12 hours. But I've been told to never cut any ER pain med in any way. Is this correct and true? And I have never insufilated morphine in my life.
 
If i were you id just take the 20mg twice a day until you get your Rx refilled. After that, try to stick to ur regimen, and even try to kick the opiates as soon as possible if you can function fine without them (no pain). Getting into an opiate habit is no joke, and happens quicker than people realize. Trust me, it only took me two weeks of oral hydrocodone to become hooked, and now 3 years later im on suboxone still trying to kick the opiates (suboxone still counts as an opiate imho)
 
Thx guy. What about testing. They are looking at levels of particles or something like that. The level of drug in my system. And as far as the 30mg morphine ER 2x a day, could I cut them in half and take four halves a day, 1 half every six hours? I read or heard I think, that you shouldn't cut ER pain meds in half of any kind. True? Thx guy. Instead of 4 - 20mg Oxycodone a day, because of taking more last two weeks, I only have 3 20's left per day for the next 26 days, I'll be short if I don't try taking 2 20mg per day. One every 12 hours but won't I go into withdrawal? I'm in pain again.
 
If you can get the amount of times per day that you are dosing down to a minimum, it is not such a big part of your life. Oxycodone has a fairly high oral bio-availability and may last a little longer via this method than insufflating, which can become something of a ritualistic habit on top of the already addictive nature of opiates. Good luck.

Edit: I recommend taking the extended release morphine as directed, that way you've always got some opiate working its' magic in the background.
 
Oxycodone help, please. Don't know how to dose. Took too much last to weeks by insufulating. I'm prescribed 4x 20mg Oxycodone a day. But only have 3 left per day for the next 16 days. Actually only 14 days and be left with none for two. Could I just take two 20mg per day for a few days which would mean 1 x 20mg every 12 hours. Afraid and don't know how I will feel in between. I also take orally only 2 30mg morphine ER per day. I don't know anything about Oxycodone like how long it lasts between doses, half life stuff, withdrawal experiences or what to expect, side effects. Etc. I have AIDS and fed up I guess after 21years I'm tired of HIV drugs and then pain for last 10 years but on pain meds for four of that to date. Help please. New to this site and new to wanting to know so much more. I also take 60mg Paroxetine and have a RX for quetiapine which I quit taking because of dry mouth and nose. But I miss the sleep I used to get on the seroquel/ quetiapine. Any help out there? Please, I need a friend.
 
you don't need to worry about testing - we can't tell you specifics about how long the morph and oxy will stay in your system but as long as you stick to your 3 a day regime you will test positive for both.
