Oxycodone vs. OxyContin

I was talking to a friend recently and he said that oxycodone in percocet is different from the oxycodone found in OxyContin. This didn't make ANY sense to me at all. I understand that percocet has APAP in it too, and that OxyContin may have a time release, but the actual oxycodone is still exactly the same right?

If I were to take 20mg of oxycodone from percocet and 20mg of OxyContin with the time release broken, wouldn't it be exactly the same dosing?

They are the same drug, in different forms of administration. One is IR (instant release) the other is ER/SR (Extended/Sustained release).

It is usually (almost always in OC/Perc) the hydrochloride salt, but oxycodone has a tartate version as well.

The new oxycontin supposedly will sustain the time release when crushed and insuffulated.

Anyway, 20mg Oxycontin (says OC, not the new ones I've read about) crushed will probably last a bit longer, that's about it.

Screw oxycontin anyway, roxicodone is way cooler. High dose, no apap, small as hell, instant release.

Oxycodone is oxycodone its that simple. OxyContin is just a time released formulation. Roxicodone, Percocet, Percodan, OxyFast, etc. all are oxycodone, the same ingredient in OxyContin.

It's the same drug, although I still say if you're snorting them, the old school 40s and 80s are the way to do it. a 30mg roxi to the dome would never get me as high as 25-30mg off an OC. must be the binders and fillers.

these people are the most annoying people ever.. they think they know exactly what they are talking about and argue it to the bone, but they are 100% wrong

iv heard a lot of stupid arguments over this..the most recent is "roxies make me tired and oxycontin makes me so hyper"..."hey you know those are the same chemical right?"..."no what are you talking about, they are so different"..."dude, i do research."...."yeah and so do i and they are different"

oxycodone is oxycodone.

when someone thinks other wise, let them know what you know, and leave it there if they don't want to believe tell em to look it up.

Once I traded someone 6 5mg Percocets for an 80mg OxyContin. He said Percocet got him more fucked up than OxyContin. He had no idea about dosage because he thought they were different.
