Opioids Oxycodone - Shocking heartbeat while nodding

Yesterday I mixed 2mg Rivotril and 80 mg of oxycodone (it was done over several hours) and in the end I was nodding alot. I fell "asleep" and I rarely took a breath. Suddenly I get a hard heartbeat (only 1) and I tell myself to stay awake untill the oxycodone wears off.

Did I take too much? Was the heartbeat caused by lack of breath? Was I close to OD'ing, and is this a classic symptom? I have tried benzoes many many times over the last couple of years because of anxiety, and I have been using opiates for 7 months now, but my tolerence has gone up a bit.

Mixing an opiate with a benzodiazepine will even further depress your heart rate than if you were just taking them seperately. What you describe happens to me a lot though, especially when on higher doses of opiates. Sometimes I'll just be in that "half asleep" phase, not breathing at all, about to nod out, and I force myself stay awake. It doesn't bother me too much but it is a bit scary.

I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say that you took more than you usually take (and mixed it with another drug) which is why you kept getting this "nodding / slow breathing" feeling. I highly doubt you were close to overdosing though; I would say this is definitely a classic symptom of opiate use. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
 
It could be anything, but it could be nothing at all. Sometimes when nodding out, people have the tendency to "jump" in their sleep, waking them up. Sometimes, this gets your heart beating pretty fast. It could have been imagined, as well. Something spooked you and you interpreted it as your heart beating abnormally. Both of these scenarios have happened to me, and I have heard of them happening to friends of mine and others here on BL.

At the same time, it could have been your heart beating abnormally. No one will be able to say for sure. It wouldn't hurt to keep your dose low next time and to keep an eye out in case this happens again.

I'm going to close this though because we will not be able to tell you exactly what happened.
