Well this just seems to be a ploy by the powers that be to keep the evil oxycodone in the least abusable formulations possible and I think we can expect more in kind. Just another manifestation of the disturbing trend of taking rights away to protect US citizens from themselves.

E-40 said it best, "Fuck the FDA, the Food and Drug Administration."

I have not a doubt in my mind that Purdue and the FDA are in bed together. Do you guys know how many HIGH UPs in the FDA are former Purdue Pharma empolyees?!? A SICKENING amount. Just like this thread was sickening.

I'm so pissed, there's NO good ER opioid on the market right now, and I was COUNTING on this to fix a problem I've had for the past 3 years.

Fuck them, they obviously don't give a fuck if people are abusing a much more dangerous plastic polymer abuse-deterrent so long as at the end of the day, enough people fill prescriptions for OxyContin to have no effect whatsoever on Purdue (and as a result, the FDA's) profit to keep these dangerous ass pills on the market. The FDA is supposed to be looking out for our best interests, yet once again they've proven that their vote/ruling can be purchased by the highest bidder. And they wonder why they're a hated organization.....

What's next? Are they going to be getting rid of non-abuse-deterrent Oxymorphone ER now? Morphine ER? This seems to CLEARLY just be an extension of Purdue's most profitable patent, keeping the money in the right pockets. Fuck this shit.... Can't say I'm too surprised tho, hindsight being 20/20...

It's also due to the misleading body response that the drug triggers. When you're almost dead, you should be in pain or at least seriously ill. With oxy, when you're almost dead, that's when you're at the peak of your bliss. It's almost as if sex was deadly, like, you can have all the sex you want but you die if you cum...so you basically try to stay on the edge all the time...sooner or later you'll fall over. It's bound to happen.

This..... just is not true at all. Perhaps for recreational users who don't give a fuck about HR or whether they wake up the next morning, but most people who regularly take these medications, such as chronic pain patients, have a vastly larger window and the line between peaking and overdosing is not as fine as you're saying it is.

However..... Throw in another CNS depressant, and that changes everything. Tolerance changes everything. For opioid naive patients, I'd agree with you KSA, but people who take opioids on the regs, the longer you've been taking them, the less deadly it becomes due to the tolerance effect. AGAIN, throw another CNS depressant into the mix and that can change everything, for the worse.

It's also extremely dose-dependent.

Hi:-) in Denmark we have the old School oxycontin, they look just like yours, the Danish Company 'Norpharma' Got the Rights for the PurduePharma oxycontins to the Denmark market, the patent here in Denmark for oxycodone products expired 4 months ago, now there is 5-6 different conpanies selling oxycodone products, but i love the original the most!;-)
Ps. In Denmark there does not exits abuse proof and new formula oxycontin because we Dont have the same addiction problem ...- yet!
So there are lots and lots of Them here. I saw a documentary called:' gateway to heroin' saying that <snip>
In Denmark we pay <snip>
I feel a bit Sorry for You:/.. But i dont know if the movie were lying:)

Hope You understood my english;-) still practising:b

<MODNOTE: it's just as much a forum guidelines violation to answer questions about drug prices as it is to inquire. Obviously Larc here is new to the site but don't be surprised if you receive a warning or infraction if I know you know better to answer prohibited subjects. Those of you who do this, know who I'm talking about. -tricomb>

Hi AndersGP, I watched that program too- Vanguard did a few shows "The Oxycontin Express" and "Rehab High" among the ones I can remember. Yeah I couldn't believe the prices people pay for these drugs on the black market. They said one US dollar per milligram was the going rate. But that was filmed before the tamper-proof oxycontin replaced the old ones here.

I'm sorry guys but y'all know damn well that we can't discuss prices of OxyContin, and if that's what this thread is going to turn into I'll just close it right now, seeing as how I already created an identical thread on this topic yesterday... I'll merge the threads because like I figured, this is going to be a hot topic and we don't go over material ad nauseum.

edit: merging threads.

So because the FDA banned OC oxycontin, and this thread will inevitably be one big complainfest, as it probably should be, I'm going to close it until we have further definitive information...
