I had oral surgery on my mouth on wednesday and the doc gave me a lot of 10/650 oxycodones...

he told me for extreme pain i can take 2...

so I have been taking like 1.5 and doing a cold water extraction on like 4-5 other pills at at time...

i always get the water very cold and use 2 wet coffee filters...

my question is... i know some APAP gets through, but would this be enough to harm me?

the reason I'm asking is because last night I did like around 6-7 CWE pills and took orally 1.5 and i woke up late this morning with a bad headache... so I took a migraine pill (my mom gets those) (maxalt) and it made me feel really really jittery as hell and I wish I would not have taken it... but my mind is starting to think about crap and I'm just hoping I'm not in liver failure or something... any help right now would be great...

thanks

che

You should NEVER take your mom's "headache pills." in reality that medication will not help with most any headache except a very specific type of migraine that involves a certain nerve in the brain.

Triptan medications have side effects similar to what you're feeling, so I'd suspect that's what's going on.

And if it makes you feel any better, even if you were in liver failure you likely wouldn't feel a single symptom for 72 hours afterward.

IME (yes experience) the effects of large amounts of APAP can be felt from 36 hours onward. Albeit this was "low" doeses, i.e. not fatal - 6g.

you have not ingested that much APAP if you've ran it through the filters a few times. the amount in there, if much at all, is the most minuscule amount, and exponentially smaller than what you put in there.

I have a feeling its that headache pill.. give 'er a few hours and she might pass, in the mean time try to keep your mind off it

15-20mg of oxycodone? That's quite a bit if you have no tolerance. Unless you regularly use narcotic pain meds, 7.5/500mg hydrocodone every 4-6 hours should be plenty sufficient. The ultimate goal is to take the "edge" off of the pain so that it is more comfortable, not completely kill the pain. As far as the acetominophen is concerned you can safely consume 5000-6000mg within a 24 hour period, so there should be no concern for any liver problems. Also, the only reason I know for one to de-compound the drug would simply be to be able remove the acetaminophen so the only thing left is the narcotic part of the medication so they can significantly reduce the size of the pill to prepare for injection to only achieve the "high" from the opiate. If you are truly trying to relieve the pain, the "APAP" that is compounded with the codone helps the medication work more effectively. To sum it all up, your oxys are probably a bit too strong for your tolerance and you took too many within a short amount of time, therefore, when you woke up, you were hungover. Don't take migraine medication for the headache as it is not a painkiller, it works by adjusting the size of blood vessels in the brain. Call your dentist and ask for a less potent pain med, such as Vicodin ES, Norco 10, etc. Preferrably the Norco as it has more hydrocodone and if I'm not mistaken 350mg of acetaminophen. That is if it's the acetaminophen that is concerning you most. I have personally been taking Lortab 10/500 every for hours, everyday, for over three years for a shoulder problem I have that cannot be treated with any more surgery than I have already had and I have regular blood work (every 6 mos.) and no liver problems at this point. Hope this helps.
