I'm taking a standard 10-panel drug test, which tests for Benzos, methadone, Barbs, and some other shit that I don't Hav to worry about ( in addition to the regular 5 panel stuff). I know to expect that oxycodone or oxymorphone won't show as a opiATE, because they are technically opiIODS and require special testing. However, I've seen mixed opinions that methadone is a synthetic opiIOD, so I'm wondering if the Oxys will show up under methadone...?

Is there truth to this? Or will oxycodone and/or oxymorphone only show up when the test is testing or OXY? ( aka- it will not trigger a false positive for methadone...)

Please only answer if you know what you are talking about. There are too many ridiculous answers that seem to come up on is subject and I really don't want to have to analyze conflicting opinions. Thank you.

I can't answer your question, however, in the US it is illegal to be denied employment based upon methadone use.

Since you (and me) seem to have a poor understanding of terms:

Opiate: an alkaloid of the opium poppy
Semi-synthetic opioid: chemical mixture of an opiate and non opioid chemical, having a pharacological effect.
Synthetic Opioid: non opiate chemical that mimics an opiate in your body
Opioid: any of the 3 above

The nature of this board is to reduce harm and help save lives. Anything else is beyond the purpose of this board, as helping "defeat" a drug test, has no harm reduction value. Be safe out there, and hopefully you stick around.

First off, you botched the second and third ones. A semi-synthetic opioid is a chemical that works on mu opioid receptors and is derived from opiates. A synthetic opioid is self-explanatory.

Do you have a source regarding the legality of testing for methadone? I have had training in the addictions treatment field and have never come across this law. Methadone, medical marijuana and prescription medications can impair individuals making performance in certain jobs dangerous and as far as I'm aware, employers can certainly test for the presence of chemicals in the employees.

Typically I wouldn't respond to discussion that violated the guidelines here but if this IS misinformation as I suspect, dissemination of it could have disastrous consequences for individuals on methadone regarding their employment status.

methadonetreatment.net/faq.php

methadone patients are covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act, which means that methadone use cannot be used to deny employment

Thanks I copied and pasted "opiate" too many times. Does a "semi-synthetic opioid" need to have MU action to be considered?

Yes, they are protected against discrimination but that doesn't mean an employer can't test (exactly what you said) or that they can't deny someone for a position that requires mental acuity such as driving a forklift or flying a reconnaissance drone. The ADA protects against discrimination for a host of reasons but if someone is potentially physically or mentally incapable of fulfilling the duties required of them for a position, the employer does not have to hire them and as I said, it is NOT illegal for an employer to test for methadone pre-hiring.

high five for teamwork ;) let's all go get high now and wait for the mods to close this shit :D
