Benzos Oxy to taper Xanax Use

I have been unable to get off Xanax. My tolerance is sky high. Would using an opiate like Oxy help withdrawal from Xanax.

The rebound anxiety from Xanax is terrible. I have access to some Oxy and was thinking on using it for a few days or weeks to ween myself off Xanax.

Stupid idea?

you'd just be switching addictions to a much more expensive one.

taper with a weaker benzo maybe, something like lorazepam?
 
Have you considered checking in to a detox facility? If you have been using/abusing Xanax for a long period of time and in large amounts, you are at very high risk of having seisures and other bad stuff happen to you if you're not medically detoxed. I don't know where you live or any of that, but i'm sure you can find out where the nearest medical detox facility near you is located.
 
Yeah, it's not a good idea, and if I were you I'd be worried about seizures. The potential physical symptoms are more of a pressing issue than psychological symptoms. You could worry about and address those once you're not dependent. Try a taper, maybe with a longer half life benzo, or get yourself into detox. I'd recommend the detox over the taper.
 
Opiates are not going to help with benzo withdrawal at all. You might have read about using benzos during opiate withdrawal to help ease the pain and got it mixed up, but no, Oxy will not help ease your Xanax withdrawal.
