Oxy- Near syncope/passing out while lying down?

Hey guys,
long time lurker, first time posting here....I'm curious if anyone has had this experience before.

I'm an avid opiate user...typically using a few times a week depending. I usually use 30mg oxycodones; oral, sometimes I'll plug, and occasionally I'll shoot. I IV hydromorphone sometimes as well. I consider myself fairly experienced with my tolerance and what not. Last night I was dosing 60mg oxy (oral) at a time with 50mg benadryl. If I re-dose; i typically like to wait 4 hr to play it safe. I honestly lost track of my dosing last night and probably took 180mg within a 4-5hr span. Throw in a bunch of benadryl in the mix and I was pretty damn high. I was nodding off; could barely write a simple text message (took forever to go back and fix errors and remember what the hell I was even trying to say), my eyes felt super heavy, and it was damn near impossible to even stay focused on anything due to double/blurry vision. A couple times I startled myself because I was nodding off with shallow breathing, I'd all of a sudden gasp and come back to.

Yep, probably a little too close to ODing and a bit of a wake up call. Very stupid of me, so I'm pretty lucky. (This is why I don't like to re-dose)

Well, I've experienced similar things in the past when I got a little too eager but I did experience something completely different last evening. You know that "tunnel vision" type feeling you get when you stand up too fast? Just the general feeling that you're going to pass out, like when your blood sugar is low, or your blood pressure drops? Seeing stars, getting dizzy, etc. Well, I've experienced this sensation before, both while sober and while under the influence. But last night it happened 3x while just sitting there. I didn't change position or anything, it just randomly came on. Got super dizzy and felt like I was going to collapse, only I wasn't up walking around, I was lying down. Scared the heck out of me because normally I'd get this feeling after I stood up (or while standing) and I was able to prevent syncope by lying down to promote circulation to my brain. Each time I panicked and jumped up off the couch and slapped myself a few times to fight it off. I thought it may have been my blood sugar so I made sure I had some juice nearby. After a short period of time it passed and I never actually passed out. But it was the scariest feeling, it wasn't like a subtle nod; it was like all of a sudden I was fine and relaxed and then I rapidly started fading out. I was afraid I was a little too close to ODing. I forced myself to stay busy and stay awake because I was afraid I wouldn't wake up.

Needless to say I am still here and thankfully okay. I'm just curious, has anyone ever experienced this before? And what do you think attributed to this? Do you think I had just dosed too much too quickly?

I just found it so strange that it happened so suddenly; it would have made more sense if I had been IVing and had just injected but I was only dosing by mouth yesterday. And I can't even blame postural hypotension because I was laying down and I hadn't changed position.

Thanks for any insight, and yes I realize I made a potentially fatal mistake. Maybe I needed a little wake up call. Stay safe my friends!

Sounds like you had taken too much oxy than you're normally used too. The extra Benadryl could have also contributed to your symptoms. You don't need more than 50 mg of that just be more careful next time not to re-dose.
