I’ve got the most awful headache I can remember in a long time. I really want to take an oxy for it but I had two 4.5 gram doses of Kratom earlier today… one 7 hours ago and the other 12 hours ago. How much of a no-no would this be?

It honestly sounds a bit risky. But I'm only a kratom expert not pharma opiods. Have any gabapentin or preglabin?

Thanks for the response.

Yes I have gaba but it won't help my headache.

I don't take or abuse Pharma opioids either. But thanks to a family member I just happen to have a few available to me.

I personally think you still have too much kratom in your system for it to be safe to take oxy 7 hours from dosing. Especially since you don't abuse oxy. Your tolerance might be low. I'd hold off.

Hey @Asparagus_Prince :)

This is the kind of issue that can be easily solved without outside help by making your administration slow and deliberate. We have extensive science, resources like "Psychonaut Wiki" and such that can help us make more educated guesses on these topics. The problem is, tolerance makes what is already a dubious benchmark with which to go on essentially useless from a personal safety standpoint.

You know how these drugs affect you better than anyone else on here would be able to tell you. You already have a substantial tolerance to Mitragynine et al that should make a reasonable dose of Oxycodone just that, reasonable. If you have a headache and you're merely wanting to get a bit more relief than what your OTC painkillers can give, then do the responsible thing.

I tell everyone this as it is not necessarily common knowledge. Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen are metabolized by the kidneys and the liver respectively. This means that they can be used in conjunction for episodes of more serious pain. I know this as I suffered through 20 or so surgeries growing up. It works.

If I were you, I would take ~500mg Acetaminophen, 400mg Ibuprofen and a little Caffeine if you've got it within reach. If you feel it necessary, you can throw a modest dose of Oxycodone on top. You know what modest means to you better than any of us could tell.

Appreciate it Keif. And I appreciate this board for giving "real" answers. I'll get back to that in a sec.

But it ended up being a pretty interesting evening for me last night, and in my original post I only volunteered about 20% of what was going on. A lot of this is OT and not just about oxy/kratom. I might come back later and share the details.... might be useful info for someone else.

As for appreciating this board and people like you...

I get fed up with being over-warned about everything from meds to foods. And personally I sometimes just want to know if a certain med, for example, is the reason for this side effect. I don't want the "it can cause this" nonsense. Just give me the answer! And like you I was pretty sure I'd be ok with taking oxy last night (I didn't), but I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some sort of awful interaction that might happen. But even if I would have taken the oxy and dropped dead from some sort of kratom interaction, my ghost would STILL appreciate the honest answers. As opposed to the more professional, liability-driven "better safe than sorry" approach (which I get).

This board reminds me of the way friends or close family members talk. I like that. I like the approach of: "I understand you have an awful headache. Be careful with the oxy and I'm sure you'll be ok" And I suspect that's one reason this board is heavily moderated... to perhaps protect people from advice that extends to the irresponsible.

Well, this community is the product of people who were also fed up with the dubious information that was available to us. I am 35 and started using hard drugs as a teenager. At that time, there was even more conjecture.

I had a 45 minute debate with another junkie over the fact that Oxymorphone (Opana) and Oxycodone were two different substances, eventually giving up the fight. That is the kind of shit we had to overcome back then.

It makes me happy to know you feel safe and protected here. This place, unlike the world outside, runs on empathy and is not beholden to the traditional powers of this world.

Now, when I say substantial, I just mean that you clearly have experience with Kratom enough to make decent judgement calls regarding other Opioids. I understand your level of usage is not in the extreme by any stretch.

Still better than arguing with my boomer Mom who happens to also have a benzo addiction than benzos are not the same class as opioids. We severely discount how poorly informed the general public is just about everything. Avg IQ 98. Tough times.....
