Ive been taking oxy every now and then for about a year, but only recently have i been using it often.. In the last 3 weeks ive done it about 7 days, and ive probably done about 250 mgs in the last 2 months. i can still get high off about 7-10 mgs. at this rate, about how long will it take for me to become addicted? i dont use during the week..

Thanks

How long is a piece of string?

If you're looking at your use and think it's increasing, that may be a sign of trouble. If you can abstain then you may be ok. A lot of it depends on your psychology. When I used oxy it was love at first sight, there was no way I could have "not used" in the week - but then I have an addictive personality 8o

Also if you are still getting the required effect off the same amount and that isn't building, that may be a sign you are not yet addicted - I pretty quickly ramped up to 100mg and more per dose to feel OK.

The problem with addiction is it can creep up on you, and usually by then it's too late.

Some people can chip, I was never one of them. I would stick to not using in the week, and if you start finding you need to use in the week and the dosage starts to creep up, take a big step back.

If you're using such a little dose you should use it as a reward for yourself after achieving a goal, or maybe on a weekend perhaps?

IDK. I think honing the opiate bliss in moderation would be badass...

Too bad most of us can't.

Agreed, I wish I could have been a weekend OC user or copped a nice buzz off of anything as precise as 7mg. I don't take pharmaceutical opiates anymore since after being addicted/quitting/WDs/self presecribed suboxone vignettes finally got me to quit them all together. I still remember the OC dose that hooked me though. It wasnt a big line. 30mgs or so but it was all I had. It also was hardly my first time but I remember as soon as I peaked all I wanted was more and so went the next 4 years off and on. It sounds like you have minimal predisposition to opiate addiction but my advice in the end is that if you give OCs enough of an opportunity they will eventually own you. How much and how long depends on the person.

All the best.

I would say that I am addicted to oxycodone as I take 20-40mg per day for pain and double that dose on weekends with atarax for recreational purposes. I have tried once taking few days off and it gave me terrible withdrawals and also the pain came back much harder than it initially was before oxycodone prescription.

So with your level of usage I would not consider you being addicted as you dont even get withdrawals during week.

For some reason I can take oxycodone but not for long periods of time. I think it just gets to me & I get bored/tired of the high. The high otself doesnt do it for me & I get no euphoria from it what so ever. Now hydrocodone on the other hand is the bomb, at least for me it is & I love it. I wish there was hydrocontin in 40, 60 & 80mg pills, but then again, I would be addicted to it like others are to oxycodone.

first i want to state that for me my true addiction started the first time i woke up and decided why wait til tonight to do this twenty? it will feel dam good right now cause from then on i couldnt not do it all day again and then my tolerance sky rocketed trust me and everyone else its not somewhere you wanna go not at all it sucks man................@ lostboys
when i was at college my buddy knew this lady that got capsules of hydrocodone 50mg's they were the bomb and specailly made for her for some reason but they didnt have the tylenol so you could snort em and they were great...........awesome!!!

There's no documented rules that say, 'if you do oxycontin X amount in Y amount of times then you will become addicted." Some people get addicted after one time, other people don't even like the drug and use it for pain and use it reluctantly for years and become physically dependent and then addicted. Everyone's story is different. If you use it, and you like it, and you have good access to it, and you continue to use, you will most likely become addicted at some point.
