Opioids Oxy 80mg SR

I am looking for a little clarification on a matter regarding Oxy 80mg SR.

I was reading information on erowid about oxy when i came open this sentence on info that has confused me.

"Some people choose to grind and insufflate (snort) oxycodone tablets in order to get a stronger effect, however, the use of higher dose sustained-release tablets in this manner can be very dangerous."

My question is, why are they stating that snorting a dose of SR is more dangerous than snorting a dose of IR?

i would have thought that, for example, 10mg of oxy crush into a powder, whether from a SR or IR pill would do the same thing?

Another question i have, what is the physical difference between a SR and IR oxy pill?

is it that the SR pills are harder/stronger consistency than the IR? Therefore if i was to crush up 10 mg of a SR tab it would be exactly the same as if i did the same thing to a IR pill?

sorry if this thread makes no sense. i am a n00b when it comes to oxy.

I have read the dosage guid on Erowid and understand the correct dosages ect.

Erowid is just saying that sniffing an 80mg oxy that is supposed to be released slowly (SR) will allow it to be used all at once by your body; which could lead to serious overdose if you have a low tolerance to the drug.

Sniffing oxy's is almost impossible now though, due to the new OP formulation. Grinding the pill up now and snorting is damn near impossible.

The only difference between a SR vs. IR it that one is designed to be released over time (SR), whereas IR's are supposed to be used immediately. Therefore, for safety, companies only produce IR's in lower doses, like 10 and 30 mg's. So crushing up a SR 80 mg oxy will hit you as fast as a IR 10mg. This could cause problems for someone with a low tolerance- like overdose.

There are ways of snorting the new OP's. Crisping is my favorite, works pretty well.
