I'm currently sleeping 12 hours a day and I am unsure on the reason why... It's been like this for about 1-2 weeks. I goto bed at night. Sleep. Get up 12 hours later feeling slightly groggy and wanting to go back to bed for about a hour before I perk up.

Is there any possible cause for this? Not depressed, just content and happy with my life.

Not currently taking any drugs apart from an occasional a.k.a in the weekend toke.

Thanks

I used to suffer from the same thing. I came up with the following possible causes:

1. Sleep disorder: I thought that I may have some kind of sleep disorder, which was interupting my sleep, and so I'd sleep longer to make up for it (if that makes sense)

2. Just got in to a pattern of sleeping longer, and thus found it hard to break out of.

I just started training myself out of it. So I'd set my alarm clock for maybe a half hour before I usually was waking up, then do a few days of that, then another half hour, etc etc. Soon I was getting back into a relatively normal sleep cycle. Though I still think I have a sleeping disorder hehe.

Sweet cheers. Already doing the alarm clock deal... Only prob is I continue to sleep through it. Getting flatmates to wake me up as they head to lectures so I can drag myself out of bed.

Thanks

^ I was going through the same thing for quite some time, and just recently I've actually been starting to sleep less, yet feeling better! :\ At any rate, I went from about 13 hours of sleep a night, to about 5 now. Strange.

I don't understand, what's wrong with oversleeping, I love sleeping and take pride in how long i sleep for. i often take naps throughout the day aswell.

Exactly. It continues to increase as well... Wouldn't be hard to sleep 15 hours... The fact that I miss most of my uni lectures is a big problem -_-

Exact same thing, here. I sleep on the weekends sometimes for 14 hours. And then during the week I'll survive on 4-5 hours a night. I'm sure I'd be fine with the smaller amount on the weekends as well, but they are weekends. Why not?

One thing I have noticed ... I just bought a house and it has a TON of windows compared to my old apartment. Plus, my bedroom is on the east side of the house and the sun seems to wake me before my alarm does. If I wasn't so in love with sleeping, I'd probably just get up with the sun. Do you have a lot of natural light in your bedroom? If not, you could try one of those light lamps that come on like the sun's rising.

i love sleeping but if i sleep for longer than 9-10 hours i wake up feeling drugged and it takes me hours to wake up.

Sometimes i get 7 hours sleep and wake up feeling great.

I notice that if ive been smoking weed during the week i dont get great sleep no matter how long im in my bed and feel a bit f*cked the next day at work .

caffeine is the answer!

I would say I have a medium amount of natural light in the mornings; I generally sleep with my blinds open specifically in order to allow sunlight to come on through in the morning, however I have been contemplating the purchase of one of those light lamps as I have heard that they can work wonders for some of us "hard wakers". Thanks for the suggestion to all of us sleepy heads :)

Yer welcome! :D

I wish i could oversleep sometimes, I wake up everyday at 9am no matter how tired i am or how little sleep i have gotten. I have an internal alarm clock gone wild :X

I tried melatonin for the first time last night and woke up at 9AM, for the first time in weeks...normally I get up around 12-2PM (9-11 hours of sleep/night), so I was pretty shocked when I realized what time it was this morning. Might wanna give it a try, it's cheap as hell too.
