Hello,

I am a legitimate narcotic pain med user and overheard another person talking while in the waiting room last week and cant get it out of my head. I don't normally eves drop but this was kind of mind blowing and with me taking these meds also I couldn't help myself. I am basically looking for everyone's opinions on this because it just doesn't sound legit to me. So I am sitting in the waiting room to see my fairly new pain Dr and there is this mid to late 20's guy sitting a few seats down from me talking fairly loud to either his brother or a friend.

There were 4 other people in the waiting room as well and my mother was sitting next to me and I know she heard every word of this guys convo also. He is talking about getting shot in the leg from a hunting accident about a year ago, if my memory serves me correctly he told the other guy that he is taking 15mg Oxycodone IR pills and he was saying that over the past 48 hours he has been taking equivalent to a little over 20mg of oxycodone every hour once he figured out the math calculations on his phone. After telling that to the guy he was with he said that it really keeps him awake and he said something about him seeming to feel nervous and on occasion slightly nauseous.

Now I am sitting there thinking to myself I am prescribed 1 1/2 to 2 15mg oxycodone every 4 hours as needed for pain. That dose seems to work very well for my pain and lasts at least the whole 4 hours and sometimes even longer depending on what I am doing or if I aggravated it that day or not. I sometimes feel nauseous a little and also have a hard time sleeping sometimes taking my prescribed dose. I notice it feels like my heart is racing sometimes and sleeping is tough. I can't imagine taking 20mg per hour on the hour or more. Wouldn't you have a serious OD risk and wouldn't you be sick as heck. What is everyone's opinion on this.

As I said my dose that I'm on is working well so I am by no means going to be experimenting with taking more of these since I would like to be able to wean off of these medications as easily as possible once my issues get taken care of. Just sitting there and listening to what this guy was saying really sparked my interest simply because it doesn't sound legit and I just am curious does this guy have suck a high tolerance or something or is he just blowing smoke up everyone's backside since he obviously didn't care who was listening to him because the whole room including I would imagine the nurse at the desk could hear and was listening. Thanks in advance for all your replys and info it will be interesting to hear what you all have to say.

Nobody has any insight on this kind of circumstance? Any opinion and or insight on this subject will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

theoretically you could do it depending on your tolerance. a dosing regimen like that doesn't seem legitimate or sensible at all.

Someone ingesting 20mgs every hour is addicted & probably has a severely high oxycodone tolerance........then again he could have been exaggerating to his friend.

I have occasionally read a thread here on BL where someone has said they take 200-300 mg of oxy a day and I used to think that was impossible, that there was no way their body could take that dose but I have just heard so many people say this that I think they are telling the truth. I cannot imagine the hellish withdrawals these people would go through if they stopped taking it suddenly. If the dose that you mentioned is what you need to keep the pain under control then I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Just be sure to have a discussion with your doctor about a proper taper plan should you decide that you don't need the oxy anymore.

Welcome to bluelight :)

I hope you don't mind that I added some paragraphs to your post as it was nearly unreadable prior to formatting. Posts that consist of one large paragraph are incredibly difficult to read and typically generate far less replies as people are likely to skip over these hard to read posts. I've seen it happen in the past where vital and/or valuable posts pretty much go unresponded to due to the fact that members won't even bother trying to read the post.

I just read earlier in Other Drugs forum a guy that takes 180ngs of oxy every 3 hours, that's 1,440mgs of oxy a day.......that's nuts!
