ok so i od'd on some ill dope today and the kid i was with didnt call 911 until my other boy showed up and called 911 immediately about 20 minutes later. they left me on the side of the road and acted like they just found me there. while i was still unconscious the cops went through all my shit, didnt find the dope but found a used rig i had in my pocket and a fresh one. after i got narcan'd 4 times i was shaking violently and all that shit it was bad.

anyways i wasn't charged or questioned on the subject. it worries me because i have an open case in the town over for felonies, and i'm afraid they'll try and use it against me in court although i doubt thats allowed.

neways any advice or clarifications would be appreciated. was it legal for them to go through my pockets while i was unconscious? if it was an illegal search and they were simply doing it so they knew what i had taken and had no intentions of charging me. idk about this whole thing :X

I'm sorry I can't help you out with the legal question but I just wanted to offer my sympathy. Fuck man. You've had a rough, rough time of it. I'm very glad you're still with us despite the fucking miserable and immoral douchery of your non-friends.

Good luck with your upcoming case. If they didn't question you and didn't charge you today, then you're probably okay in that regard. I would want to go beat the living shit out of that first kid though.

They can search you if it's to keep you alive. Confirming that you were OD's on injection opiates can be a lifesaver. Your friends pretending they had found you on the side of the road made it necessary to search you to confirm the OD. If they said they saw you shoot and knew you used heroine, no search to make sure would have been required.

If the cops didn't charge you then, they aren't going to at all, my guess is they figure almost dying and all would be punishment enough the first time. Plus it's a lot of paperwork to file charges on someone going to the hospital, then pick them up or get them to turn themselves in when they are released... unless it's a violent crime they're not allowed to cuff you to the bed and wait or anything.

its not illegally but its scummy as shit...but again its your unconcious word against the cops

Why is it scummy? Would you rather die from your OD?
I personally don't do any hard substances but it makes me angry when junkies like you would rather save that last hit for another OD than live and be thankful nothing bad came out of it. Get off the dope and start thinking straight!

lol im far from a junkie...never done coke..never done heroin..never done any "mind stimulating" shit..im actually pre med going to get my p.a....if they had found a substance on him what would they have done? they dont know what its cut/laced with...ambulatory care is more important than looking through a heroin addicts pockets for a used needle...not everyone who posts on this board is a junkie...my 2 cents

btw i do enjoy my oxy though..only recreationally though

You never know what you might find in a junkie's pockets. Anyway, my 2 cents is you shouldn't bash the cop that helped you out and didnt even charge you for being intoxicated in public or some other shit. If anything, find out his name and send him a thank you letter.

Then everything after that sentence doesn't matter.
If you were not charged theres no way they are holding out to gather evidence on you. Which would be the only way they could come back to charge you.

If you weren't charged then they most likely thought the punishment of ODn was far worse then a simple paraphenalia charge. You're totally cool imo.

for someone trying to get a physicians assistant license you're really not that bright. Searching his pockets was not scummy at all, it was to determine which drug he was using. As an EMT it's pretty important to know what the person has overdosed on because it completely changed the treatment of the patient based on the drug. Making the determination, based on finding the needle, that the OP was on an opiate allowed Paramedics to administer Narcan (Naloxone) specifically only for opiate overdoses to block the opiate receptors effectively cancelling the overdose.

Long story short, finding out what the patient has overdosed on is CRITICAL to how you treat them and what combination of medications to use that won't interact with the drug overdosed on that will treat them most effectively.

yeah so i'm pretty lucky for not getting charged. i'm just wondering what the long term consequences are for overdosing and being unconscious and barely breathing for 20 minutes

I would think that any ill effects from it would have already taken place, IE: brain damage, so my guess is you're fine. You're very lucky though bro, alot of good people have done what happened to you but weren't lucky enough to be revived. I'm not trying to be preachy, but you should reflect on what happened and consider the direction in life you are heading.
