Yea the cops have to try and arrest someone right?? I mean, thats what they are paid for right? Its sure as hell not to serve and protect, more like arrest and harrass.

just so there's no misunderstanding, that law protects corporations from being sued.

Backwoods, are there a lot of forests down in Georgia?
Really, this is shameful. So are laws that prevent people from calling for help in an OD situation. OD's can be easily treated, why should people be scared to call for help in order to save someone else's life?
Don't you know, the state pastime is hunting-toting a gun through them woods and shootin at anything that moves!! (I'm teasing...that is only somewhat true...ok ....no really)
Very funny.
Later on when I'm less busy I'll compile a list of states with 911 immunity laws, then try to turn it into a color-coded map. Unless such a thing already exists (I couldn't find it). I think everyone should always call 911 regardless of the potential consequences, but people may be more motivated to do so if they know they're legally covered.
I've been in this situation 5-6 times....It's really scary because if someone isn't breathing, there's not much time to react!
If I don't have Naloxone on hand and somebody is not breathing I'll do chest compressions first....a lot of the time the person will regain color and start breathing on their own. If that doesn't work, right away I'll call 911...
Even if you do call 911, if they don't get there within5 minutes or so, the person will have brain damage or die anyway....It's best to do CPR while you're waiting for the ambulance so that you can at least try to get some oxygen flowing....In borderline cases, the chest compressions work wonders...but if they're too far gone there's nothing you can do! It's fucking terrifying...
One time, my girlfriend was locked in a gas station bathroom with a metal door shooting heroin. After 5 minutes I got scared and asked the clerk to open the door. she couldn't find the key right away and the way this door opened was outward so it would have been almost impossible to kick in...She found the key and my girlfriend was sitting on the toilet slumped over turning blue. she managed to put the needle and drugs away but she was fading fast...I threw her on the floor and started chest compressions...The clerk called the ambulance and my girlfriend woke up just as they arrived! They wanted to take her in but she refused to go....that was one of the scariest moments of my life....If she had dies I would have had to kill myself....How do you explain to someones family that their 22 year old daughter is dead from the drugs that you just bought and gave to them?!
I still feel sick to my stomach thinking about it....
Naloxone is a life-saver and should be available to everyone...They had a program in my area a few years ago where you had to take a class and get certified and then they'd give you a few vials of it...So it was kind of a hassle...I had a few vials on hand at one point but they got lost somehow...would have come in handy because I had a few people OD on me after that....I have brought people out of it with CPR quite a few times now, but there were other times I had to call 911!
^ please try to do that if you could numbers
