Look, I think there is too much hysteria and some places are going too far with restrictions/lockdowns, but it's not a harmless disease or a hoax. It's closer to the flu than to, say, ebola, or regular SARS, but it still kills a lot more people than the flu. Believe me if you want, you probably won't because it doesn't fit your narrative, but my aunt, cousin, and 3 of my mom's friends died from COVID. One of them was obese with diabetes (my aunt), so there was a complicating factor. But my cousin (who lived with her), had no underlying conditions and was 45. Both of them came down with it, developed the "glass lung", ended up on ventilators and died. Took my cousin longer to die but still happened. My mom's friends were age 65-80, so old, yes. But no underlying conditions other than age. Age 65 isn't that old especially when healthy. Telling people that their loved ones who died actually died from something else when that is just an assumption you're making because you want to believe lockdowns and masks are a conspiracy is kind of a slap in the face.
I also have a friend of a friend who has "long COVID" and is experiencing neurological and fatigue issues months later, and we have a BLer I know of who had the same, not sure if he's all back to normal or not yet.
I also got COVID. it sucked but was basically like the flu with worse body aches and no nausea/diarrhea whatsoever, not a big deal. It's not a big deal for most people but I have never known anyone who has died from the flu before, personally (I know there are plenty of flu deaths every year). When was the last time you've heard of a 45 year old with no underlying conditions dying from the flu?
