out of my mind

memories fade like bruises
indentations on my brain
my heart
your soul
as much as i try to escape
these things
that serve only
to remind
they reappear
i moved miles
and hours from
all of that
only to be
constantly
informed.
watching you wilt
fade
the boy i once knew now
turning into a man
unsure and
unaffected
by his own past
do you even remember me?
or have i faded
out of your
recollection
only to be replaced by a younger
newer
more up to date model
one without an opinion
one who will go along
just for fun
the only reason i
ever said i cared
was because i did
and do
but you forget so soon
i am out of your sights and
out of my mind
but bruises heal
as will my heart
and my trust
in myself
i just need to get over this fall first
and regain my sense of balance
find a new way
to have common ground
and peace of mind.
