last wensday i dropped off two post dated scripts to be filled friday for fentanyl and oxyir. a 30 day supply. Come friday i goto the pharmacy. They don't have my script ready. The pharmacist talks to me and tells me that when they looked at them friday to fill they realized they were 31 days old. There were written on the 16th of december. And he would call my dr. Around 430pm they got new rxs faxed
and gave me a 72 hour supply. 12 capsules and 2 patches since i change mine every 48 hours. Today there was no mail. the new scripts won't go out to tomorrow via snail mail to the pharmacy. I assume this because how late friday they got them, and the office closed at 5 and is closed on weekends, and with no mail today, they did go out or are delyed. My drs office is in another state.

i called the pharmacy and they said they can't give me anymore meds beyond what they did until they get them in the mail which may not be until later this week
i am out of my breakthrough meds as i onoly got 12 and went though them friday and over the weekend. and i am on my second patch which is due to be changed tomorrow and have no more.. should i goto the ER and try to get something to hold me off for a few days?

Cliffs:

DR makes mistakes and post dates two cII scripts 31 days.
Pharmacy does'nt notice until the day they go to fill it
Happened on Friday
DR wrote new scripts late enough int he day past when USPS would take out going mail
NEw scipts won't mail out until tomorrow and will take 2-3+ days to get up here to the pharmacy
Pharmacy won't give me any more meds until they get the mail
They already charged my insurance for 30 days worth of each meds and i paid my co pay, but they only could give me 72 hours worth of meds

First off that fucking sucks. Secondly I suggest to find them elsewhere for the time being. Or call your DR first thing tommorow morning to find out exactly wtf is going on. Good luck!

i had this issue with his pa before but noticed a head of time that i mailed the script back and they mail me a new one. The scripts are either in the mail which i edoubt since how late it was friday or still in the outbox being to be mailed to the pharmacy.

Is fax not an option or what about your DR calling it in? I am not sure how scripts work w/ scheduled drugs, so both of those may not be an option at all.

^You cannot fax or call in CII medications.

To the OP: I don't think that there is anything that you can do other than wait. I don't know if your doctor can somehow instruct the pharmacy to dispense a couple more days worth but short of that happening I don't see any other solution. I'm sorry man :(

I can understand not calling in, but I thought a fax was just as legitimate as a handwritten prescription? At least in those jurisdictions not requiring triplicate forms.

Here, a fentanyl or dilaudid prescription will be written on the same pad as an aspirin prescription. A single sheet of paper with no security features. It seems to me like a fax would be a perfectly adequate substitute in this case... though I don't know what New Jersey is like, but I assume with their reputation of a voracious appetite for opioids, restrictions would probably be tighter than average there.

Yes, that's what I would do without a doubt. But then again, where I live, an ER visit doesn't cost me anything. From what I understand, it will probably set you back a nice chunk of money (I just find it unlikely that private insurance would cover visits to the ER for prescription fills but maybe I'm wrong).

If you're okay with that though, definitely do it. I've done it before. But... find a LOCAL DOCTOR!!!

^its because faxes are as insecure as phone calls. You can make a fax look like it came from anywhere these days.

Sounds like you're going to have to wait it out, good luck.

Only go to the ER if you need to of course. If it's an emergency what else can you do?

yup nothing really can be said to help you man looks like your are shit out of luck as they say.....sorry hope you make it through

went to the er

dr gave me a script for 15 percodan tablets

i was like, this would take care of my oxyir but the patch is equal to 30-67mg of oxy a day. he did'nt seem to know anything about the patch or fentanylq

Stupid DR gives me 15 4.5mg oxycodone tablets to replace fentanyl and my daily oxycodone intake. My patch equals 60mg of oxycodone/day and I take either 20mg oxycodone/day for breakthrough pain or 60mg of Morphine. At least I got something to hold me off and my insurance pays 100% Er visits.

plus, here in aus at least, the script has to have a handwritten authorisation for these type scripts.

every month my morphine scripts require the handwritten authority from the dr on the script, the authority called in to the place (skipped me mind at the moment) for the authority number.

this last script i received, the dr forgot to hand write the authority on the script, which had me have to go back and get it done in order for the pharmacy to fill it.

here they have to write c2's and they can not be called in. an emergency 72 hour supply can be given based on a faxed c2 script wrote out and scanned and faxed. and the pharmacy has to get the real scripts within a few days or the dr gets reported.

the number you speak of sounds like a drs dea #

they either fill out the dea number if the drug is controlled or it is printed on a script (which i've only see on er scripts given to me at a hospital) some scripts had the license number on them already and the dea blank.

my family dr has both blank and never fills them out. when ever i drop off a klonopin script she does'nt write her license or dea # and they always have to call the office and it delys my fill. but that was once, ever since i just do a refill request online and they call for new fills

my PM office called. Good news, The nice old lady took the script to the post office herself on friday so it either went out friday or saturday at the latest. how nice of her, but i am sure my dr was on in about it since the pharmacy is supposed to get the real script that was faxed within a certain amount of time

pharm called, they got the new scripts in the mail, so i got my stuff. 13 patches and 80 oxyirs, they only had 80 left, so they owe me 28 and i have to wait a few days for them to come in

OMG I am so sorry to hear this. People don't get how scary and painful withdrawal is for ANYBODY. I got in this thread late but yes, if this ever happens again, you have every right to go to the E.R. BUT...you need to tell the doctor there at the E.R. exactly what your condition is AND that you are OPIATE TOLERANT. Otherwise they'll give you a little script for Norco 5mg. It's just the protocol they do for pain patients....if you let them know respectfully what is happening they almost always work with you but ya gotta be straight up....AND NEVER REQUEST ANY CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE BY NAME....That, will make YOU look like a DRUG SEEKER to the E.R. doctor and then you might walk out of there with Tramadol....or they just give you a shot of morphine or tramadol and let you go. I KNOW THIS because I have Lupus/Rheumatoid Arthritis...I live in pain 24/7. I am in pain management WITH A MEDICAL CANNABIS CARD and they let me smoke my cannabis and my doc gives me M.S. Contin (30mgs), Lyrica (100mgs) and Soma....and this is because without the cannabis, I can't keep food down, I vomit all the time, the lupus has literally targeted my stomach (years ago it was my kidneys, renal kidney failure and heart rate of 30)! You would think that with everything I take orally and smoke cannabis ALL THE TIME through the day. I vape the wax like crazy. I NEVER get sloppy, or appear medicated...and I hardly ever feel 'high' from my medicines...unless I have an empty stomach. If you have an empty stomach your medicines will work better. If you still feel no relief from the oral opiates, take a Benadryl with them. They are a good cheap potentiator and WILL HELP.

If you are out of meds and have no opiate medication or Xanax type medication and you (or anybody) has to go through withdrawl the hard way...I highly recommend getting yourself some Cannabis and fast. IT HELPS to get you through the pains, the bad tummy, the anxiety and the chills and sweats. It's a bitch. It's really cruel to the person going through it. I am so sorry your pharmacy pulled that crap but I used to help out at a Savon Pharmacy and it's just how they HAVE TO do it. They, like us have to answer to the DEA and they get audited and all. Another huge problem where I live is that pain management put 90% of their patients on Norco (all strengths) and so now every pharmacy in this town is OUT. Wiped the heck out and they have to wait weeks before getting it in....this is why I told my pain doc, "No more Norco, I am not hunting for it or waiting for it, im in too much pain" and she up'd my M.S. Contin (which seems to always be in stock in the valley). So again, Cannabis is WONDERFUL for getting through that 72 hour hump while the opiates drain out of your system and brain as well. There are no OTC remdies to help withdrawl from these things (believe me, I have tried lol). And FYI...if you do the cannabis...know that it stays in your system for at least a month...it's usually 45 days before it gets out of you. So...I pray that you are okay and everything got worked out and that you feel better. Be firm, be nice and speak up to your doctor who perscribes your meds and make sure to let that doc know that THIS CAN NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN because the only person who has to suffer because of this BS is YOU. It's unfair and cruel. Peace be with you and I hope your pain condition gets better, really. It's hard...and when we take these medicines, it's like there is a stigma on us. Shameful. We hurt. We suffer. We go through hell. People don't get it...BUT I do. All the best to you! I mean that. Really. *hug*

Your totally right! I used to do inventory (helped out a ton since my childhood friend was a pharmacy tech and her dad was the lead pharmacist here in this city). So...yeah what you said is totally true. However, they take their sweet ass time and dick around while the patient wretches in pain and anxiety. :(

You must have had one heck of an ear infection, dear lol. DAYUM...gave you percodans. That's rare. I personally cannot take them, they make my ears ring really bad and it makes me feel like I have to puke but it never happens....ugh. *cringes* I know it works great for others but I cannot take it lol.

ALSO, ingesting Soy Lecithin with your oral medicines along with that Benadryl should help a lot. *note* when I make cannabis edibles for myself I use the soy lecithin because it too is WONDERFUL potentiator as well. It increases the opiate (or cannabis) by 15-20% and so does the Benadryl! So together, ingested at the same time with your medicines should give it 'legs' and last longer for you. I'm just trying to help. :)
