out of curioity, how many picked up HEP C while using?

I am glad that you haven't caught it as well! I am glad you stay careful :) Just that little exposure to good drugs led me down a road of alcoholism. I don't drink much anymore but I do take Hydrocodone on a regular basis. I am trying to watch myself with that stuff. God knows I don't need anything else that eats my liver up! LOL Have a great day BostonBrown ;)

just get tested. the worst that can happen is that you have it and you can start making some changes. The best case scenario is you don't. It is also better to know so that if you have it you don't put others at risk.

I have been told that you can give yourself Hep C? Fact or fiction guys? I've been an IV user for a cpl months now and worry about Hep C constantly...unfortunately not enough to put the needle down.

I have the most genotype 1A, no Hep-A or B, one of the most common and easiest to cure... at least that's what my GI specialist said. I was so bummed that I went and "guess what?" shot up more dope and cocaine to forget the test results. I always tell people, most in Dayton have it because we have one tiny needle-exchange that JUST opened.

I don't. I've never, ever shared a pin with anyone. I've reused needles plenty, even when they were way too fucking blunt to be poking around with them.. But they were always MY pins and were never used by others.

we need more needle exchanges...or at least one in orlando. When I used to use I would buy a box at a time once a week. Two three bags for myself. The rest I passed out to users going to the same dope hole as me. It is the small things that can help this problem. Just wish the local government cared a little more.

Man I've shared so much but when you're reall deep into the addiction Hep C is a lot less important than being sick. In NYC I never had to share really because of all the exchanges and pharmacies that sell needles, but still there have been times. The rest o the country espcially the south I've had no choice but to share rigs because it's so difficult to get cleans on short notice. I've contracted Hep C 6 times but my body has beaten it every time.

they should have needle exchanges universally, aswell as narcan. sigh wake up world - stop being hypocrites.

I found out I have Hep C in 2014 while in the hospital for MRSA. The infectious disease doctor came in and sat by my bed with a somber look on her face and told me the test results were back and I was positive. I just smiled at her and said yea I figured. It's not something to laugh at, but she just looked so sad and like she really didn't want to give me to news so I wanted to let her know she wasn't ruining my life by telling me.

I actually just had a follow up appt yesterday to see what stage (0-4) I'm in, so in a month ill know exactly what we're gonna do about it.

The fucked up thing is, insurance won't cover treatment until your liver gets so bad. It's kind of a catch 22, you just have to wait until you have so much liver damage then they'll pay.
Or you could pay the $80 grand out of pocket..

You're right, IV users are more at risk in the south and people are misguided moralturds so of course no needle exchanges, and in states where you don't need a script for needles (such as Tennessee) most pharmacists still won't sell them to you cause Jesus. Not bashing Christians but the holy rollers are the main reason for this and it's a shame.

I had a hep c scare awhile back but it turned out to be alcoholic hepatitis which is not viral, and therefore not contagious. Doc said it will go away in time if I put down the booze. Still drink sometimes but it's pretty rare and I'm feeling much better already. I only shared needles with one person, an ex boyfriend. One time is all it takes though.. Other than that I don't share any of my shooting gear.

My heart goes out to those who are infected, especially those who don't have access to treatment. People can be ignorant assholes when it comes to things like hep and HIV. Do unto others
