OTHER poppies

Now, I'm tried to work from memory (which isn't always a good idea) but I do recall that last time I was reading a "legal" high document, it talked about California Poppies containing a small amount of opium. Again, I could be wrong about this, but I seemed to remember that it had a small amount (much less than opium poppies for sure). Now, I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with using other flowers of the Poppy family, with what amount of luck and through what method of extraction. Hopefully someone will have tried this

Hi,
The only poppies you wanna bother with are Papaver Somniferum, any other variety just aren't worth bothering with,although i heard some may contain slight amounts of opium!
I noticed alot of different varieties of poppy seeds forsale recently on the net,for opium purposes!,
Well as far as I knew there was only ever one type(mainly) which was farmed around the world,and I could always identify this by the poppy head.
Your best source is the local dried flower shop,with biggish heads,wearing a crown(spikey),pointing up and not down.

California poppies Eschscholzia californica, not even in the genus Papaver, so yeah, um, no.. just look at their pretty orange flowers and you can eat their little blue seeds if you like

All the seeds I've seen sold on the net are all Papaver somniferum. The only differences are the strains which effects the color of the flowers or the pod sizes. They all produce opium, though, as they are all the same thing. No more different than a Chink and a caucasion. Except the caucasion is superior.

Nice to look at but I don't even think it's possible to get high as there really isn't any active opiates within... you might wanna check poppies.org ..

Give up on the californian!
But dried Papaver Somniferum contain opium+active opiates.Some countries get most of there morphine from the dried poppies.
