Hi there!

New to the forums.

Going to Belgium for a week, and wondering if anyone knows if there are any OTC opiates available over there, like codeine, ethylmorphine etc.

Names, brands, any info really. Both pills and cough sirups are cool.

Thanks a lot!

i was there a weeks ago funnily enough! heard about the ectylmorphine and asked for brands id looked up online at tons of pharmacies, only to get blank stares and responses in the negatory. maybe if you tried smalker family owned ones they might accommodate but theyre probably unlikely to speak english. id just look up a load of brands and jott them down and show them to the staff, but from my exp. it was a no-go

i doubt that anything novel will be available otc. i used to be able to get benzos in greece no questions up untill 2006. now its impossible as the pharmacies are all following broad EU guidelines concerning prescription only medicines, making the availability of these sort of things more or less the same as the uk. as a leading EU member and the home of the european parliament, id say belgium is first among equals when it comes to stuff like this. you need to visit a 2nd or 3rd world country if u want anything decent otc anymore, and even these places are tightening up, especially in the touristy areas

Please don't mention anything too specific, lest it look less like harm reduction and more like sourcing ..... [/friendlywarning]

The ironic thing is, I totally honest have pneumonia and is running out of my prescription strength meds I got back home.

Not only that, I also have periodically severe back pains.

To get a new prescription and drugs back home is such a hassle though, and on top of that very expensive. So I thought I might as well stack up on some if they had any worthy ones OTC over there.

So, I would absolutely call it harm reduction from my point of view ;)

mentioning specific drugs and brands is sailing awfully close to a sourcing request mate, regardless of the perceived harm reduction you believe will come from such specifics. Im impressed that Julie has allowed this thread to slide this far. Ive had warnings and edits to my posts for much less, cant see this thread going much further dude, sorry!

No worries!

I'm probably on the wrong site/forum if questions like this is "sourcing" or somewhat perceived as illegal or immoral.

Thank you anyway :)

its not about morality fella, the majority of people who use this forum use legal and / or illegal drugs a which of course have to be 'sourced' one way or another. the problem is that the site cannot be seen as a place to get drugs or be seen as making any drug, legal or not, easier to get. i know its frustrating at times dingdingdong, but operating this way ensures that the site remains as an impartial place to openly share information about the positive and negative effects of drug use, and the steps people can take so they reduce to a minimum the harm that some of these drugs cause

whst you asked dingdingdong is a reasonably harmlessness question but its the start of a slippery slope and the moderators have to er on the side of caution when drawing a line about this. 'what opiates can you get' can quickly be followed by 'which chemists will sell them to me', next time it will be some dickhead asking 'wheres the best place to get smack in brussels, and who should i ask?' if someone then provides an answer to this then its game over - the site will be perceived as a place to get drugs which would leave it open to negative publicity at the very least, and in a worst case scenario may lead to shutdown and prosecution as being concerned in supplying. im sure you realise that due to the nature of the information shared on here, it is highly probable that law enforcement agencies monitor bluelight on a regular basis.

if you have a need for these type of drugs for genuine pain relief then i cannot see the reason why your healthcare provider would not give you more support with this. if you are travelling from the uk to belgium, then you should be able to bring a reasonable supply of what you need with you, just back yourself up with copies of prescriptions and doctors letters if your medicine happens to contain a controlled drug.

please stick around mate, there was nothing inherently wrong with your question - i was just trying to explain what may seem like a baffling rule to using this forum. You are in the right place and once you get used to navigating the finer pitfalls of the forum you should find that you will get whatever information you need 99 times out of 100 - even when you cant get a direct answer you may find what you are looking for by what isnt said or by reading between the lines

Guess who's applied for mod? ;)

There has been lots of discussion here about UK codeine preparations (as well as JJ Collins morphine), with some quite specific information on brands, availability, maximum amounts for sale per pharmacy etc, and apparently that hasn't been a problem.

I know nothing about belgium's OTC but in the netherlands a small amount of pharmacies are allowed to sell 10mg tabs of pure codeinephosphate (in packs of 10pcs) as coughing tabs.

India is the best place I have been too for over the counter meds. Seriously they give you anything you want or ask for over the counter that was some years ago mind 06. The worst place for otc meds is the UAE unless it is Antibiotics. anything with any sort of opiate in it or sleeping drug is a big no no in the UAE.
