before you flame me, ive read the guidelines, etc. i hope this is the appropriate forum, and ill try to make this brief.

i have a serious lack of physical energy and mental concentration. i feel like a junkie even though i dont do much drugs and its been a month since i even smoked a joint. i used to take adderall, but have no insurance and to make a long story short, it would be 4 months before the Dr. that prescibed it to me can see me for another appointment. i dont want to spend the next 4 months in my current state.

adderall normalized my sleep schedule, curbed my appetite and made me feel normal. im not trying to catch a buzz here, im just wanting to get thru the day and get things accomplished. i dont want to eat shit like minithins.
is there something at all that can help?

Exercise (I know it's hard in the begining, it gets easier) will give you tons more energy than you had before exercising.

Make sure to eat right, take a daily multi-vitamin, and possibly supplement with something like a ginseng combo tablet or two twice a day.

Without taking a stimulant like psuedoephedrine, ephedrine (mini-thins) or ma huang this is the best you can do.

MattPD is right.

excercise will make a WORLD of difference. at fist it will be hard but once you get into a routine, you'll feel great.

also, eating right is a big part too. you have to eat well during the day, or you will just feel like shit. believe me i used to have the more awful eating habits and i felt awful everyday.

eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. drink milk and orange juice. things with vitamins.

drugs are not the only way to feel good...

well, i understand exercise is important, but the catch 22 is that i feel so dead i cant exercise. so thanks, ill take your advice on supplements, eating right

also, i just managed to get hooked up by the hospital this morning in a weird twist of fate; so ill be getting adderall.
i just need this as a kick start to getting myself together, and once ive done that i want to stop taking it.

appreciate your help, mods you can lock this thread or whatever now :)

i had taken adderall during the summer/fall of 2002.

just be sure to eat before taking it, because it will kill your appetite. it also might cause you to be a bit more hotheaded. but since im a little too laid back, that never affected me too much.

what strength are you taking? i had XR 20 mg.

I was prescribed 10mg XR, and he told me this was just to start, 2 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and that I had his permission to alter the dosage to find something that works best for me. BUT since my insurance company doesn't cover anything that's not generic, I got the generics, which are still time released, but not extended time release. They still have the same dosage of the ingredients as normal Adderall does though. I am making sure I am eating even if I am not hungry though, just because of the time of day etc I know I should be hungry. It's kind of helpful because I am on a diet anyways to lose my freshmen 15, but when it does wear off before bead I am mad-hungry which doesn't help. I already have a bad temper, but haven't noticed too much change in my personality. I am still the same sacrastic bastard I always was when people piss me off. :D

Closest OTC product to Adderall is Ephedrine HCl. Dirty buzz IMO though. I wouldn't pass 25mg if you elect to try it.

Time release is the same as extended release. Its just a marketing thing. They are the same, like you said. If adderall is too expensive though there are other ADD meds out there like strattera. Ask your doc about the other ones, they might be cheaper and may be more effective!

It's not that the drug itself is too expensive, but it's just the insurance won't cover the name brand if there is a generic version offered. So my bottle doesn't say "Adderall" but it says "Amphetamine," however the side of the bottle lists the ingrediates and amounts, which is the same as a comparable 10mg pill of Adderall.

strattera costs 3 times more than adderall!!!! i was prescribed that, but didnt wanna spend 200 bucks on something that wasnt proven and had the potential to backfire.

I was just making a suggestion for other drugs. It DOESN'T have to be strattera! But if you you're happy keep on eating your amps. And it has been tested, it is approved for ADD/ADHD.

i find didrex to be a decent stimulent when nothing else is available. its (for me) stronger than ephedrine and has less unpleasent noticable side effects. it isnt exactly over the counter, but just as easy to get if it was.

bum, thats fine i wasnt yelling at you, i was just saying that most of these drugs didnt work for me personally, and
because of the price was unwilling to give strattera a chance.

Ephedrine HCl would work, or any beta 2-receptor agonist for that matter. I sometimes, although rarely needed, use clenbuterol for study. At low doses (40mcg) it is still more potent than EphHCL and has a ridiculously long half life (30+ hours). You can actually use both, Clen for 2 weeks - then - Eph for two weeks, then repeat. As Eph is not a direct beta-2 agonist and poor ligand for the beta-2 receptor, but I wouldn't ever recommend doing this for more than a couple weeks as to keep your adrenals from down regulating too much.

Caffeine accentuates both of these, and works on its own quite well. Also I would frist try and get some green tea extract, w/ standardized polyphenol content as it is also a natural stimulant, acts as a cognitive enhancer (concentration improvements), is dirt cheap and has a huge host of other benefits. There is also the Nootropic angle to look at, which is used wisely can greatly help with all sorts of cerebral tasks and regulate yourself without the use of adrenal stimulants.

Also if you decide to go the Eph/Clen route - the compound Yohimbe HCL will help avoid the (est. 2 week) receptor down regulation that occurs, therby letting you use each thermo for a couple weeks longer with the same stimulatory effect. Use natural sleep aids such as 5-htp, tryptophan and the like until your patterns normalize - as prescription options are likely expensive (which you probably don't want) and depending on the drug can cause more drowsiness / hunger during the day further incapacitating you.

Caffiene is great, take a redbull, then try to exercise. keep this up until you get energy. I know redbull is shit, so dont use it for very long, but soon you should be up to par.

And bamboozle, how'd you get your avatar?! you've only got 6 posts!

Well anarchistgirl, in a nutshell; I propositioned a moderator, who by request will remain anonymous at this present time, for an avatar and was forced to use lewd demeaning pictures of myself completely exposed and nude with strange props such as a large cucumber, 3 feet of garden hose and innocent gerbil, as leverage for the avatar. Minutes after these pictures of myself were sent though, much to my dismay I found out that there is actually no current post limit to have an avatar, hence since then I have been philosophizing all day whether I should feel violated or delighted regarding the matter.

Adrafinil (Olmifon)

Another option for you might be Adrafinil (Olmifon). It is not scheduled in the US and can be imported for personal use.

It is a unique drug which is used in Europe for vigilance disorders, age associated memory disorders, narcolepsy, depression. Unlike amphetamines, it does not produce the physical side effects such as insomnia, increased heart rate/blood pressure, etc.

It was developed by the same French pharmaceutics company that produced Provigil (Modafinil). In fact, Modafinil is a metabolite of Adrafinil. (Provigil is scheduled in the US and requires a prescription.)

Here is an interesting paper on Adrafinil from the University of Toronto at Scarborough:

I've used this drug myself a couple of years ago. It has absolutely no recreational benefits, but its overall effect of increasing concentration and wakefulness is nothing short of amazing. Bit it is necessary to continue on the drug for a few days before you'll see a noticeable effect.

In terms of its effects on sleep, unlike amphetamine class stimulants, you have the option of sleeping if you want to.
