See all nominated films (oscars)

Of the 2008 nominated films, which ones have you seen or will you see? (even after the telecast ceremony)

I saw:
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Reader
Milk
Slumdog Millionaire
Frost/Nixon

I don't care who wins. I just like to see all the nominated pictures and performances.

Last comment... for those of you who haven't seen the Extras! episode where Winslet says she's just doing a Holocaust movie to get an Academy Award. :D It's really really funny. I'd watch the whole thing if I were you but if you want to just see the bit where she's talking about getting an award fast-forward to 3:20. The rest of the video is mostly Winslet giving pointers of how to talk dirty on a phone lol.

*waits patiently for the "overrated" and "overhyped" backlash toward Slumdog, when it inevitably (and deservedly) carries the night with 6 to 9 victories.*

Best film of the third millennium, imo.

BEST PICTURE
Should win: Slumdog Millionaire
Will Win: Milk. This will be the Academy's way of making up for Brokeback Mountain

DIRECTOR
Should and Will Win: Danny Boyle, Slumdog Millionaire. To make up for not giving Slumdog Best Picture.

ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
Should win: I dunno
Will win: Milk. To make up for not giving Milk Best Director.

ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
Should win: Slumdog Millionaire
Will Win: Frost/Nixon. Because the Academy believes that Republican-bashing should not go completely unrewarded.

ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE
Should Win: Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler
Will Win: Sean Penn, Milk. While Hollywood may love a comeback, the Academy does not.

ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
Should Win: I don't know or care.
Will Win: Kate Winslet, The Reader. To make up for her not winning in previous years.

ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Should Win: Robert Downey Jr., Tropic Thunder
Will Win: Heath Ledger, The Dark Knight Because the Academy tends not to appreciate comedic acting.

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
Should Win: Penélope Cruz, Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Will Win: Not Penélope Cruz. Because no one saw VCB other than me.

^ maybe you are underrating it :)

It was beautiful when he won. He deserved it I think, his acting was amazing in that film.
Everytime he spoke I felt a shiver down my spine, everytime he entered the scene I was mesmerized.
Many years of great acting work pays off, and he wasn't there to enjoy it.

I was so glad Danny Boyle won best director Sunshine, 28 Days Later, and Trainspotting are some of my favorite movies and Slumdog Millionaire was pretty damn good, definitely the best of the nominated films.

I wish In Bruges had for best original screenplay it was the best movie of 08 that no body saw. At least it got some love at the Golden Globes.

Also Man on Wire was good but I would of rather seen Encounters at the End of the World win for documentary. Warner Herzog deserves a god damn Oscar.

+1

that movie had some really shit promotion. the trailer in no way portrayed what a hillariously dark comedy it actually was... it made it look like a hackneyed odd couple buddy pic. definitely glad i saw it.
