Original Colour of Pill Testing liquid

I just bought an "E" test kit. Its in a dark glass container.
I was under the impression the reagent was meant to be a completely clear, colourless solution. Mine has a definate light brown colour to it. Comparable to say pine wood.
Basically what I want to know is, is it still going to work? Will it impede on my results at all?

All Marquis reagent will go brown overtime...the reagent is a volatile liquid that is only 'just' being kept stable by the addition of formeldayde to the mixture.
If you are talking about the kit we retail ('E') then yes, it could be a slight pine colour when you got it (though it won't be more than two weeks old - Chemical Generation make the Marquis reagent fresh each fortnight). It has an effective shelf life, when refrigerated, of many months and we have some samples stored in cupboards (and so never refrigerated) that are still usable about 5 months later (but then, it IS Winter right now in Melbourne, so pretty cold of course).
Basically, if it ain't that sickly brown colour, but a slight tinge only (ie. you can still see through it and would term it 'pine', not 'brown'), then it will be fine...if you have any doubts, The Peak! will be very happy to replace it for you gratis...

Dunno but it should be clear, especially if you just bought it.
We had the same problem late '99 but we replaced the dripper and that worked.
Canyflip, maybe you should inspect your dripper, there are drippers available that _can_ stand the reagent a lot better.

I also purchased a kit in which the reagent was a brown-ish colour..
I know that it still worked, however because of the colour, it was difficult to detect Amphetamine substances
I just picked up a new kit, and it is a clear liquid, and seems to work much better.
