OraQuick HIV test

^^ Thanks for that. That is the difference between a book nerd and someone who actually is in the field. :D My virology professor was a bit out there, but what PhD isn't?

If money weren't a factor and I believed I were truly at risk (although, I guess we all are), of course I would want the PCR test. I wonder if that's what they use for instances of accidental sticks in healthcare.

And, with you being a computer nerd, I'm stumped by you taking virology...;)

This test is not 99% accurate like the rapid test they have in clinics. Also, any test that looks for the antibodies won't be effective if the person hasn't waited 60-90 days since their potential infection.

Yep, but with OraQuick you have the results after 20 minutes and if you're hot to trot it seems like a plan to me.

Keep in mind that just one HIV test does not mean that someone's necessarily actually HIV neg and you should still assume that they're HIV+ or have other STDs and have safer sex. This also applies if your partner(s) are women.
