yesterday i tried 70mg. methylphenidate(Ritalin) by just ingesting it. my past experiences with methylphenidate are limited to me snorting it for it's cocaine-like effects, which i didn't like too much and had a bad comedown but was a decent high(i had no amphetamine to waste or any coke so it was an o.k. substitute).

anyway yesterday i had 70mg. of ritalin in my stash and i was bored so i took it oraly instead of snorting it to see if i could get a decent stimulant high that lasted longer than snorting.

what i got was an unpleasant stimulant effect with uncomfortable stimulation/restlessness, zero euphoria or feelings of well being, chest pains, annoying vasoconstriction, anxiety, and dysphoria.

it felt like a large uncomfortable dose of ephedrine mixed with a large amount of caffeine. :! plus the comedown was hell: i had to take 60mg. temazepam, 4mg. clonazepam, 40mg. diazepam, and 2mg. alprazolam to calm myself and get to sleep.

yet i hear of people who often abuse ritalin oraly. i'm pretty amphetamine, cocaine, and methylphenidate tolerant(they're all cross tolerant).

does anybody else feel so bad on oral "recreational" doses of methylphenidate? better yet, does anybody actually enjoy oral methylphenidate?

methylphenidate just isn't very euphoric in my experience, whether it's aken orally or nasally. I do find it decent as a study aide, but I definitely prefer amphetamine as both a utilitarian and recreational stimulant. There are some noticeable differences between the two methods of administration though.

When insufflated, I find there is a more pronounced sensation of intoxication compared to oral use. It's more potent than oral use and comes on in a couple of minutes this way. There is a short peak that lasts about 30-60mins, then there's the comedown/crash accompanied by residual physical stimulation for a while. The "high" is comparable to cocaine in the sense that it feels more like cocaine than amphetamine subjectively (for me anyway). There is a sense of excitation during this high, but it never quite reaches a satisfying euphoria, and there seems to be a higher degree of body load and anxiety compared to amphetamines or cocaine. I actually think it's these uncomfortable side effects that limit it's recreational potential.

Oral use lasts about twice as long, and has a more gradual ascent and descent of effects. There are less feelings of being mentally altered this way, but there still is a noticeable increase in energy, focus and motivation. I find the negative side effects are less pronounced this way as well.

Methylphenidate is a drug where less is more, so to speak. I find 25mg insufflated or 50mg oral to be enough to feel the effects of this drug. Upping the dosage does not result in increased benefits, it only seems to exacerbate the side effects. You just can't expect amphetamine/cocaine like effects from methylphenidate IMO.

I found plugging to be better than snorting for methylphenidate... IMO, it wasn't half bad, but then again I was prescribed it at a very young age and like many kids given methylphenidate, I have never really cared for cocaine. (Amphetamine is a different story altogether, though...)
