Do you, the users of this forum, understand that by not speaking up (and stating that the the so-called 'War on Drugs' is not in any way associated with the prevention and reduction of drug-related harm) you are participating in your own oppression? Unless of course you understand the nature of what is going on and do not care or are actively profiting from the oppression of a minority.

I think many users of this forum understand that the War on Drugs is an ongoing, horrific moral crime, and the importance of speaking up, and many, I'm sure, have been involved or are still involved in efforts to make more people aware of this fact, and reduce the oppression and injustices experienced by drug users worldwide - to whatever extent they are able to do so.

I'm not sure what gives you the impression that users of this forum do not understand what is, obviously the most pertinent issue directly affecting the users of this forum who are drug users, the oppressed class, of a sort, that they belong to, or at the very least people that they know.

I guess it depends which parts of the forum you've spent time in - there are, admittedly, unfortunately, some absolute morons who just don't understand anything about anything really, apolitical nihilists who are just selfish "I'm fine so fuck everyone else" types, Trump supporters (a more USA-specific form of rock-bottom stupidity), Reform/Farage supporters (the UK version of Trumpers), and, I guess, supporters of populist, antihuman, fascist grifters in whatever locality one might be based who invariably are pro-prohibition, pro-War on Drugs, generally profoundly evil people.

"Current Events & Politics" is a bit of a cesspool for that, in my experience, but it's not the only place you'll find these people.

But, that's true of every group of humans, unfortunately. There are just some people who don't care about anyone else, don't really know how to think critically about anything, and will indeed consistently and enthusiastically participate in their own oppression, as you put it. It's not always their fault, as difficult as that is to reconcile with the damage such people do to the future of humanity at large... so some compassion for them is warranted, as difficult as that is. Anyway, what is it that you perceive is not happening here, that you think should be happening? What would you like to see change, here, in this little corner of the internet, specifically?

What is happening is this: the reality of the situation is avoided/not being talked about. The WoDs is an economic construct using an association with psychoactive substances other than alcohol, tobacco and caffeine to define a minority that is exploited in order to deliver financial gain and political advantage. Until you start conveying the truth, oppression will be the outcome. You are interested in stopping oppression aren’t you?

Everybody here already knows that except for the aforementioned unlucky but loud minority I mentioned in my earlier post.

Not gonna lie, it's a a little bit insulting to have someone try to explain the War on Drugs to me. What do you think we're all doing here, exactly? You think this is some kinda mashhead slop-fest and none of us care about anything? You think in the 20 years I've been a member of this forum and the longer time I've been doing drugs, I've never been able to arrive at the conclusion you stated on my own? You think anyone here is joining a drugs forum without an interest in drugs that goes deeper than just getting fucked up, and you don't think any of them have the ability to come to the same understanding you have? Christ, this must be what it feels like to be mansplained to as a woman in a male-dominated field by some arrogant chump who thinks they're the only one to truly understand some basic principle that is actually obvious to everyone.

You have absolutely no idea what I or anyone else has ever actually done to combat the catastrophic harm done by the War on Drugs - but harm reduction and information dissemination to combat propaganda, which is the primary purpose of this forum after all, is a part of that. In case you haven't noticed, it's actually pretty hard to exert meaningful changes on grand scales in the world and to reverse destructive sociocultural trends that have been entrenched for decades - if it was, the world wouldn't be so fucked up right now in so many ways.

What are you doing to stop oppression? Other than just insulting the intelligence of everyone on a part of the internet which has probably done the most to combat the harm done by the war on drugs, as much as is possible to do on what is, ultimately, just an internet forum for discussion, not organizing political revolution.

Although if you were actually interested in the latter, you can certainly find out information about the groups actually doing shit out in the real world here too, and certainly many people involved in those groups will also be members of this forum.

Again - specifically - what do you think is not being done, that realistically can be done, on this forum? Because it isn't just talking about the horror of the war on drugs, everyone is already fucking doing that, like, all the time.

I’d like to say a few words about this.

Whether I’m being oppressed somewhere always has something to do with me as well. You give someone a chance, and you take it.

I know what the “demonization” of drugs and drug addicts means. I grew up with it. I even understand it.

BL users have a right to be heard. Whether that’s to their benefit depends on each individual. You can benefit from it (by which I mean minimizing the consequences) or you can choose to complicate your life. These two possibilities generally exist everywhere in life—not just when it comes to drug use.

I myself use drugs (not just nicotine, caffeine, and alcohol) and am on BL almost every day. This has a positive effect on my drug use.

I don’t think it’s right to condemn drug users.

I think almost every drug user has simply chosen the lesser of two evils in life. They shouldn’t be condemned for that.
