when people say they smoke opium what is it exactly they smoke (some sort of extract/ pod thingies / seeds?hehe and is it legal?
i really like the sound of this high people have described at erowid experiences but am not sure what to get?? do i have to grow the actual poppies and then cut the pod things off and smoke em can i use the seeds somehow? their is no way i can go out where i live and just buy some opium so i really need to know... im also not sure if its legal to bring opium seeds into new zealand from other countries...
any suggestions on how i can try an opium high?
 
brief description : grow poppies (must be of the papaver somniferum variety) then as they mature they'll grow "pods". these are then carefully slice on the outside so the "bleed" more or less a goop that is your opium. process is slice, then come back after its secreted some raw opium latex (turns dark as it dries, and firms up to a tarry substance, much like heroin), and scrape that off. rinse and repeat. a tea can then be made from the pods as well if one feels so inclined.

When people say they are smoking opium they are smoking the product that was gathered from a sliced pod. The latex as it is refered to is what is smoked.
You can smoke the latex you gather from the pods, and make tea out of the left over plant. Growing poppies is simple and since you live in New Zealand I guess your in a good place to grow :)
Brining in poppy seeds most likely will not be stopped by your governments customs. I have no idea if it is legal, but you can order some from www.poppies.org and the package that the seeds come in is simply a vanilla envelope labeled as "FLOWER SEEDS" or something like that.
To try the opium high my suggestion is either A: Buy some poppy pods online from one of the many vendors and make tea out of it or B:Plant some seeds and you know the rest.

Side question: What is the best smoking tool for Opium?
I have read in a few places that a bong is the best, but wouldn't it make more sense to just use one of those glass pipe vaporizers?
 
yes acutally a modified crack pipe --longer with many cruves and is made out of glass is usually what we use--the funny thing is this pipe has a dragon on it---so I suppose its intended purpose was for opium and not pot...(or crack)
 
ahh yes... i went into cosmic corner today the local pipe supplier and saw some clear glass looking pipes i was wondering who the fuck you would use it for weed because there was no cone or anything just a glass pipe with a little bowl thingie attached to the end....
