Opioids opium tincture dosage?

couple things:

1) is this stuff fun (its the 10 mg/ml) stuff in a bottle.

2) how many drops should i take if ive had a 200 mg/day oxy habit for awhile

Standardized opium is supposedly 10% morphine (circa 1945). I would imagine that a 10mg/ml opium tincture would be more of an alcoholic intoxicant than an opioid... we're talking 1mg/ml morphine, and that's only got ~30% oral bioavailibility. So you'll consume 3ml of alcohol for every 1mg of morphine that makes it into your blood.

If you have a 200mg/day oxy habit the stuff is worthless. Even if it's a 10mg/ml morphine tincture... that's only effectively 3mg morphine equivalent per ml. So you'd need a good 60-70ml...

Of course start slow and work upwards, don't jump in and down a whole shitload, there could be other things in it that make you feel strange (other opium alkaloids like noscapine, papaverine or whatever, added decongestants, shit like liquorice root)

Please feel free to correct me, I've never dealt with Morphine Tincture, I know little on the subjects so please help me better me understanding. What is it used for, other than IV ampoules, Oral Morphine, or XR released Morphine tablets?

How are you planning to take it? Just Googled pictures as I've never heard of morphine tincture. By a morphine tincture I assume this means morphine dissolved in alcohol, in which case - is this safe for IV?

Also, throwing it out there but Oral Bio-Availability of Morphine (I don't know this is the same for tincture) is somewhere between 20-40%, whereas Rectal-Administration (again I don't know for tincture) is somewhere between 36-71% so significantly higher, if it is a possible ROA.

On that basis, if it is safe to do so, I would either IV it if that's what you're into. Or if it is not, I'd go for rectal administration followed lastly by oral ingestion.

In the interest of harm reduction, please consult with anyone replying to the questions in my post to ascertain whether I'm on the right track or have completely misunderstood it? This is a new product to me and I'm asking a lot of questions, not suggestion a lot of methods of administration.

Though on a different note, what is Morphine Tincture (Laudanum) actually used for? Why would this be sourced instead of IV-Ready-Morphine or Oral-Ready-Morphine?

Opium tincture is opium dissolved in alcohol. Morphine tincture usually is similar. Both are unsuitable for IV or IM usage because of the high amount of alcohol and low concentration of opioids. They're meant for use as oral cough suppressants and "minor" painkillers.

By the way, recommending someone IV it is... kind of going the wrong way up the harm scale. If you're not already an IV opioid user this is a dumb place to start.

Opium Tincture is something you should save for a rainy day / if you run out of all other options. I was RX'd this while detoxing off roxicodone, but haven't touched it (since I'm trying to be opioid free, for as long as I possibly can anyways...). It's definitely going to be chilling in my medicine vault (I learned a LONG time ago not to keep any scheduled medications except shit I honestly give no fucks about, like tramadol) but everything else, even the super-weak Prometh/Codeine syrup.... just gotta lock it up... Or it WILL go missing, and yeah I'll know who stole it due to closed circuit television cameras / CCTV (And NO, I don't have CCTV surveillance in any restrooms in my residence or other private areas) but I'd rather not deal with making it so easy for someone to steal an RX that an addict likely would steal, no need to unnecessarily add temptation to the medicine cabinet, etc.....

TL;DR, The only legit kind of opium IMO, is actual raw opium. Pharma-opium just doesn't = natural opium.

Paregoric is camphorated tincture of opium (0.4mg anhydrous morphine/ml). The tincture of opium in the OP is the same, minus a few other ingredients, and 10mg/ml. I saw what was said by Sekio and tricomb about their uses, but normally they just give either for diarrhea and rarely at that.
