Opium questions

A FOAF has stumbled upon some poppy heads, was unable to find answers to these questions, so he asked me to ask them:
- If he were to evaporate the poppy tea, he would be left with opium (or close enough). Could he wet a piece of rolling paper with this solution (relatively strong solution, to reduce the amount of water needed to evaporate), let it dry, and roll up a cannabis joint? Would he feel the opium effects at all?
- Would letting it completely dry, mixing it with cannabis, and rolling a joint have positive effects?
- Would placing a small piece of opium on top of a bowl of cannabis with a standard lighter give the desired effect? He knows that there are pipes specially made for opium, and the "chasing the dragon" method.
 
i don't know much about opium, but i'd definitely say that opium and weed is probably a good combo. mm, fadedness.
 
No, you've got it wrong....
Go to www.poppies.org and find all the answers you need. If you have the poppy pods the best thing to do is crush them in a blender as powdery as you can then steep the powder in close to boiling water for 20 minutes and drink the brew...Its reffered to as poppy tea.
 
He knows how to do poppy tea. He is just looking for different ways to ingest it.
He's been to poppies.org before and still has these questions.

Your not gonna get opium from evaporating the water after the extraction. You will be left with a whole shitload of "goo". A good recreational dose of this shit is gonna be somewhere around 5 grams depending on the quality of the pods. So no, you really cant smoke it.

That wouldnt be opium at all nor would it be "close enough". It would have the same active ingredients (mainly morphine), but the concentration would be way off. The concentration of alkaloids in the goo is soooo low that smoking it would be a complete waste. You wont get high.

Dont' make a fucking poppy tea.. i'm sure it will taste horrible and it is easy to have to much.
Find the opium FAQ or any harvesting opium documents. They will tell you which part of the head to cut, so that it bleeds the white sticky stuff. You leave this stuff to dry and come back later and it should be dryed up brown stuff and this is your opium. Otherwise when the white stuff comes out immediately, but carefully wipe a cannabis leaf on the white liquid and smoke it up later when it has dried.
 
If I were you I would dry out the tea, get the reminents, find an exrtaction method that seems fit for the job and purify your product. That's my 2 cents. Peace
 
Your never gonna extarct opium from the goo. An acid/base extarction on it will give you relatively pure morphine.

My thoughts on the subject...If you have dried poppy heads, you are not going to be able to derive anything smokable from them. In the case of freshly cut ones, you could drain some opium latex, let it dry, and smoke it. And if you do have some opium for whatever reason, you can definitely put it on top of pot and smoke it in a regular bowl. I am willing to bet that most people who smoke opium do so by using this method (w/ the possible exception of chasing the dragon). The pot keeps the opium from just melting and oozing into the stem of your bowl and also gives a better buzz.
For obvious reasons, if you aren't positive that what you have is opium , putting it on top of weed isn't a good way to verify what you are smoking. But if you or a friend are extracting the opium from fresh pods, this isn't a concern.

AbraMontague: once the pods have been clipped off the stem they wont produce latex. The plant produces latex when an incision is made on a live pod. The latex "bleeds" out of the cut. The latex is created in the pod when it is sliced. There is no latex in the pod waiting to bleed out. It's created when the pod is damaged.

before i post any thing here, i must ask this question:
is talking of sources prohibited from ALL classes of drugs? or just research chemicals? i wasnt real clear on that from the guide line.

As far as getting any effects from an evaporated weak solution on paper, probably not.
Not very good effects from mixing opium with pot anyway, the reason is temp. Pot burns at temps which pretty much destroy opium (and cocaine for that matter ..even crack). If you want to mix it with pot, fine, it's pleasant enough, but use indirect heat or get yourself a vaporizer. Otherwise you are just throwing your money away.
